There is a scientific account of a male tiger that ambushed a 200 kg she bear and merely managed to kill it after a 20 min long struggle so obviously a tiger wouldn't do much against male 350 kg average kodiak in a face to face confrontation. These types of match ups shouldn't be debatable. Anyone who believes a lion or tiger would have some chance against a 350 kg bruin is an utter fool. Quote: A kodiak woud win 10/10 against a lion or tiger. We are talking about a bear pound per pound stronger and more durable than either cat with a weight advantage of at least 120-150 kg . How would a lion/tiger have some slim chances of winning against such a bear ? At parity , it is possible but against a bear with such weight advantage ? Nah *As I explained, I give the lion or tiger 1-out-of-20 because sometimes the seemingly impossible does occur, such as the case of a leopard killing a lion. As for the tiger (M20/T-20/Dale/Dima/Misha) killing the 200 kg (440 lbs) brown she-bear; No, this was not confirmed. The tiger weighed over 445 pounds, but the she-bear was never weighed. The estimates of those who witnessed ranged from 330 to 440 pounds. You can average this out to an estimated 385 pounds. Well ig a lion/tiger may somehow go through the bear's thick fur and strike a major artery but such scenario is to be considered a fluke. The probability of a big cat taking down a 150 kg heavier bear through brute force is 0. Well i am not sure about the details but the main point is that if a tiger struggles to kill a she bear around the same size in spite of the element of surprise then surely the big cat would be hopeless against a kodiak with a decent weight advantage especially in a face to face fight.

Oh yea the lioness vs moon bear video, the bears face got a little bloodied but he actually played a kill bite on the lioness, tooth in the skull. So moon bear vs lioness goes to moon bear? Right; although I'm not sure that it was a lioness. Possibly a young male or a maneless male. A male lion living alone will sometimes (oddly) lose his mane.

The big cat would have to (by accident) slice an artery in the bear's face or groin area (IMO). I will add though; after a fight with a lion or a tiger, even a huge male brown bear will not walk away unscathed. He will have some battle scars.

It stood next to a maned lion in the video and it looked like a lioness, or yea a young male.

Quote; "It stood next to a maned lion in the video..." *Sorry but I don't see a maned male lion anywhere on this video. The lion fighting the bear appears to have a ruff framing his face (tiger-like) as is common among young adult lions...(teenagers).

I don't generally like to post captive animal fights. But, in any case, we can see that nothing is faked here. Now, I am no big cat expert. Is this a lioness, a young lion, or a full-grown maneless male? In any case, I see an Asiatic black bear successfully defending himself against a lion. In the wild, given a chance, the bear would scurry up a tree. But when cornered, he knows how to fight. The lion wants out of this enclosure. The bear, being familiar with tigers, knows that the lion is a predator. He is in defensive mode. The lion has no idea what-in-the-hell is this thing? Now, I have actually seen up close a big Syrian brown bear at "Tiger World" in Rockwell, NC in 2012. I have no lingering doubts that a Syrian brown bear is a stronger bear than an Asiatic black bear. In a face-off, big cats simply don't do well against bears. Now, I feel the need to.... edit and add: in the wild, this lion would not have fought this bear for more than - less than a minute. Here is the more complete version. Yes, there is a full-grown male lion at the beginning of this video. I believe the one facing the moon bear is a young adult male.

The brown bear is the uncontested biggest and strongest land-based Carnivoran south of the high-arctic. Only the polar bear is bigger.

Is anyone gonna stop mountain Lords rampage in the carnivora thread? I simply quit going there. Their "fearless leader" is himself a fanboy.

Is anyone gonna stop mountain Lords rampage in the carnivora thread? We don't care bro. What's the need for debating an ignoramus who believes tigers can hunt adult rhinos and elephants ?

what is the body fat percentage of a bear again? For inland grizzly is 17% of fat in normal seasons. For coastal grizzly is 10.8% of fat in normal seasons. For American black bears is 15% o fat during normal seasons.
