Reply 51. That is one huge looking male polar bear. He was from the Svalbard region which doesn't even house the biggest Polar Bear population.

Reply 51. That is one huge looking male polar bear. He was from the Svalbard region which doesn't even house the biggest Polar Bear population. The polar bears from Svalbard and Churchill are some of the smallest of their kind on average. The surprising thing, the biggest of the male polar bears do not overlap in territory with the barren ground grizzlies.

/\ 40 to 50% fat only applies to pregnant polar bear females.

Wow, also I remember a post where a 2100 lb polar bear had only 20% body fat. If you can find it please post it in this thread.

We are talking about everything a bear needs to bully a tiger, Brobear. We started out with this title: Muscular bears with huge muscular forelimbs.

I do know no big cat has a shoulder hump as you said before. But the muscles on the jaguars forelimbs seem to outmatch the forelimbs of the funny bear. unless that one hairless Andean bear picture was a small sick young old female weak fat captive bear that also doesn't exist. What is the size of each contestants paws again too? The Andean bear is a larger and stronger animal than a jaguar. At HB length parity, the jaguar is probably the strongest of living cats. But, that is comparing with other cats. Consider that we have no evidence of jaguars hunting and ambushing adult Andean bears. And we are talking about a big cat that will ambush a black caiman or a crocodile. Basically, a cat is geared for having strength, speed, and agility in relatively equal amounts. A bear is not without his fair share of speed and agility, but he is mostly geared towards strength.

Yes, we want bears that were gifted extra strength and big pro muscle by bear god. Huge shoulders and big neck muscles too. (Actually you could say they were not gifted and those are just the bear necessities for a brownie)

I still believe a jaguars muscle, bite force and agility will edge it the slight win or a draw over the Andean bear. I actually also believe a kodiak bear would win only 7/10 times with a tiger and 6/10 times with a lion.
