Tigerluver, who happens to be a biologist by the way, does not make-up numbers or data. I am certain that any measurements given come from research and are well thought out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that I remember that a very large impressive male polar bear can stand as high as 11 feet (bipedal). Would it not be possible for the largest male Arctodus simus to reach a bipedal height approaching close to 13 feet? I don't contest the fact that Tigerluver took the measurements from research papers, i am fine with this. I am just very doubtful about his reconstruction. Some polar bears are documented to have reached 3 meters high, ok. 11 feet bipedal? It is possible for a polar bear but unless someone has a photo, i have never seen a 3.3 meters tall polar bear in real life. Brobear, it may be possible for some freak specimens of Arctodus simus to be close to 4 meters tall when standing up. But think of that: a 4 meters tall bear when standing up is between 1500kg and 2000kg. In short this a monster. But who knows, there are always some specimens suffering of gigantism.

Look at this image and tell me now if you are confident with a shoulder height of 193cm (can we enlarge images on this forum?). This bear could rise his head above 200cm when walking on four legs. I took the measurements, i have an approximative value around 60cm for this humerus (59cm or 61cm depending of some factors). Attachments:

The man: 180 centimeters is equal to 70.87 inches or 5 feet 11 inches.

So what would you consider as the normal maximum (no freaks) bipedal height of a polar bear and Arctodus simus?

Hello everyone.
I thought I will start my journey on DOTB with sharing the collection on size of bengal tigers that I made over the past 2 years.
I myself contacted many scientists on this list to gather information.
but first, can someone help me understand how to post full size image here? My attachment appears as a small image only.

OK, I left-click on the image for a "copy image address"... then I go up to the little picture of a framed portrait, and click onto that.... I remove the "http://" and click in what I copied from the picture.... then insert image. (hope this helps)

Thank you very much. So here is my collection on weights and size of bengal tigers that I made over the last two years, I myself contacted many scientists in the list to gather information. Interestingly, they average this much based on scientific records. All the more reason to believe that Bengal tigers are scientifically the biggest cats alive today !

I heard a few ligers are planning an assassination on you YZ. Ligers are man-made freaks which should not even exist. There is no logical reason for people to keep breeding those things.

horribilisIt's written in the document how they obtained the weight; they used an equation based on torso girth and axial length which resulted in 803kg for Stan.

I read the document a long time back .Forgot to recollect the document and exact details on how they took the morphometrics. Yeah , they measured the body mass via weight tape. Just read that now after you pointed that out .Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I just remembered these 2 images when I wrote to him in that mail . And now, since both of 'em mentioned he was weighed , I thought he was actually weighed using a scale.

Often seen on internet: "According to scientific research, Ussuri brown bears can weigh up to 700 kg:" Warsaw says: "You can choose between"Can weigh up to 700 kg " and "actual data"Seryodkin.2019 According to actual data, can weigh up to 400 kg." Note: 400 kg = 882 pounds. As I understand it, the heaviest verified weight for a wild Amur tiger was under 600 pounds. topg - Do you have any data on Amur tiger size?

Jaguar Fact Sheet www.jaguarssp.net/jagFactSheet.htm The jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas, with a record weight of over 347 pounds (158kg). The largest jaguars have been found in the Brazilian Pantanal region, where in one study the average weight of males was 220 pounds (100kg). Head and body length, without the tail may be up to six feet (1.85m), and the tail can measure 30 inches (75cm) more. Height at the shoulder may be up to 30 inches (75cm). The jaguar’s coat color ranges from pale yellow to reddish brown, with a much paler (often white) underbelly. It has spots on the neck, body and limbs that form rosettes, which contain black markings within them. On the head and underparts, the spots are simple black dots. Black jaguars are not uncommon, and even they possess darker rosette markings that are visible in bright light. Compared to a leopard, the jaguar is stocky and more powerfully built. The square jaw and prominent cheeks, along with robust, muscular limbs give evidence of immense strength. It has been said that the jaguar is built for power, not speed. While true, this cat also demonstrates surprising stealth and grace in movement. Average male Pantanal jaguar: 220 pounds.

THE AMUR TIGER programmes.putin.kremlin.ru/en/tiger/animal The Amur tiger (also known as the Ussuri, Siberian, Altaic, Korean, Manchurian or North China tiger) is the largest and one of the least numerous subspecies of tigers. Amur tigers can be as long as two metres and their tails can be one metre long. Females are only 75% of the size of the males. Adult tigers usually weigh up to 300 kilogrammes; the heaviest tiger on record weighed 384 kilogrammes. These tigers are very strong and are able to drag a horse's carcass for more than 500 metres. (much more information on site provided)
