Brute says: I read online that when bears fought bulls it was 50/50 as well. I think it would be the same for a cape buffalo. WRONG. The grizzly nearly always defeated the bull. Read the book; California Grizzly by Tracy I. Storer for fight details. Also, in the book, BEAR - The History of a Fallen King which says that in the Roman arena the bear nearly always killed the bull. But a domestic bull, even the famed Spanish Fighting Bulls, are no match for a bull bison or a bull buffalo.

I agree with that, i dont think the grizzly would try to attack a Giraffe, although those long legs should be vulnerable.

I would say that in the California pit fights, the grizzlies defeated the bulls at least 80 % of the times. Here is the account from 1870 where a grizzly defeated a bull in Mexico, dig a hole big enough for an elephant, carry the bull there, and bury him.

A big male giraffe can stand well over 18 feet tall and weigh 2800 pounds. He would probably be intimidating even to a massive boar grizzly. One kick from a giraffe can kill a lion. The tall guy is no joke. A grizzly is very sensitive to ground vibrations and has been found to be among the first animals to be aware of a an approaching earthquake or volcano. Perhaps, I would think, a grizzly might sense how heavy an animal is by ground vibrations in its footsteps - just a theory.

Nice post of grizzly vs bulls and lion. This and more in the book, California Grizzly. My favorite was the grizzly who fought one huge bull after the other with each bull being bigger than the previous one. The great bear fought and killed four bulls before ( being totally exhausted ) was killed by the fifth bull. The spectators were heartless.

Definatly, fighting spanish bulls are very very dangerous and are breed for fighting, beating 1 is enough, now imagine 4. I have read this story from several different books. Then I discovered this same story on one of the bogus lion fan-boy creation where in is his telling, the grizzly was replaced with a lion. It just gets under my skin that these big cat fan-boys are so unsure of their chosen big cat that they feel the need to create pure-lies all over the internet. If they were truly impressed with their favorite, then why make up absurd tales?

It's kinda hard to read the book because it cut off. Is there a different version i can read that'a not cut off?

www.goodreads.com/book/show/1591471.California_Grizzly California Grizzly by Tracy Irwin Storer The California Bear Flag and the University of California football team the Golden Bears emblemize the great animal that has been extinct in California since the 1920s but once numbered perhaps as many as ten thousand in the state. Forty years after its original publication, University of California Press proudly reissues California Grizzly, still the most comprehensive book on the bear's history in California. The lessons of the book resonate today as the issues of protection of wildlife habitat versus unfettered development of land for human use are debated with increasing urgency. Order easy from Amazon.

www.bbc.com/earth/story/20151123-are-killer-africanized-bees-really-that-dangerous By Henry Nicholls 23 November 2015 Reputation: Killer bees are huge and are equipped with lethal venom Reality: Killer bees are actually smaller than regular honeybees. Their venom is also less powerful. They are aggressive, but not in Puerto Rico. *So, I doubt that a grizzly would have any more trouble with African bees than with any other. Bears love honey.

Back on topic....with all being said here, grizzlies would do fairly well/normal in africa, it depends on his luck, depends how much he crosses paths with these animals. I would think you will definatly see more dead grizzlies though (unfortunally) not until extinction no, but more dead yes. (I am not like tiger boys who most say “but tigers destroy bull tuskers and rhinos on a regular basis!!” Hahahahahaha.

This bear weighs roughly 137 kg ( 300 pounds ) and has no real fighting experience. He would be very vulnerable to hyenas and lions. There are of course many other dangers to consider such as snakes and crocodiles and big grumpy herbivores. Probably more of these sub-adult bears will die than those who make it to become full-grown grizzlies.

That sounds just about right. That would probably happen that way. Its all about experience.

First of all, I cannot stress enough that there is a tremendous difference between a lion or tiger enthusiasts and a big cat fan-boy. I know through blog-sites a great many lion enthusiasts and tiger enthusiasts who are knowledgeable about animals, post interesting facts, and have right-on common sense opinions. Then there are the fan-boys... According to them, there lives no beast on earth that their chosen big cat cannot totally destroy. Well, if you think about it... we have proven right here, on this topic, that we are not fan-boys. I have named five African animals that a big boar grizzly cannot take down. ~ Elephant - Hippopotamus - Rhinoceros - Giraffe - Nile Crocodile ~

I have never seen a bear fan say that a bear can beat those. Peter is the smarter, calm, and down to earth tiger fan in the web, that is why i made a whole thread with his quotes because in general he favours bears over tigers in face to face fights.

These are the mature posters who admire either the lion or the tiger without slinging crap at each other ( crap being spam ). Good honest knowledgeable posters. Most of these readily admit that a big healthy boar grizzly is more than their favorite big cat can handle but they find the pure-predator to be more interesting and exciting.
