Also, on this post we will not quote posters from other sites in a negative manner no matter how rude and crude those posters are. However, there is an answer because Californians tested it during the gold rush. They used to pit grizzlies against bulls, but the bears always won easily by using their paw as a club. Tired with the lack of suspense, they shipped in African lions to raise the stakes. The lions had a reputation for rushing fiercely into the attack and looking very promising at the outset, but in the event the grizzlies killed them as easily as they did the bulls. The bear’s edge lies in deploying its enormously strong bone density against the thin skull of the lion (lion strength is more muscular than structural). This is the reason that a lion might be defeated more easily than a tiger. The lion is bolder and more likely to go head-to-head against the bear. A tiger will try every trick to attack from one side or the rear.

Wrong in the case of bears. A tiger always kills a bear with a bite to the back of the neck. His objective is to bite into the spine at the base of the bear's skull. This will work on a juvenile bear or a she-bear. The big male brown bear has a neck too thick for the tiger to make a quick kill.

I was reading a book about animal behavior. First i though that it is informative and good so i should read it and share it but further i read and discover that it was a joke. That book was just calling all animals as cowards and told that a lion can throw down a human by shaking its tail!

In a book it was written that, "The romans sometimes pitted two african lions against a single Ural mountain grizzly. The bear usually won." I wanted to post ot here but when i saw that its category is fiction so i rejected it.

Ramadam killed Parnell real fast; a quick kill. I once witnessed on video when Van killed a 500-pound she-bear in a matter of a few New York seconds. So, when someone argues that a bear cannot make a quick kill - sometimes they do. |

I have seen experts favouring bear over an african lion but never an expert favouring a lion over a bear. I would like to see atleat one expert saying that a lion would kill a bear face to face. The experts who favour the bear over lion are:-
1. Clyde beatty
2. Theodore roosevelt
3. Howard edward
4. Roman prosake
5. Al.E.Barners
6. Frank buck
The Spanish of america who knew that terror of grizzly bear and favoured them over lion were:-

A book about animals favoured grizzly and kodiak over lion and tiger and a news paper tells that a grizzly would beat a lion.
From the book of Bear:History of a fallen king, it is proved that european brown bears always killed barbary lion.

Interestingly, in his early years, Clyde Beatty had said that a bear ( referring to brown bear ) would lose to a big cat. He believed this until the first time he watched a fight between one of his big cats and one of his bears. I can't remember the book title... Wish I could.

Beatty first though that tigers are suprior to lions and bears but the face to face fights in his life showed that lions and bears are superior to tiger. And not hust this, he further said that bears are superior to lion also. The bear is the "ultimate heavy-weight champion."

The single population faces the threats of epidemics, natural disasters and other anthropogenic factors. The project aims to establish a second independent population of Asiatic lions at the Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. However, the proposed translocation has been bitterly contested by the state government.
The main predators occurring in the protected area are Indian leopard, jungle cat, sloth bear, dhole, Indian wolf, golden jackal, striped hyena and Bengal fox.
Ungulates include chital, Sambar deer, nilgai, four-horned antelope, chinkara, blackbuck and wild boar. More than 1,900 feral zebu were estimated to occur in 2008, whereas density of wild ungulates was considered too low to sustain an introduced lion population at the time.
Honey badger, Indian grey mongoose, ruddy mongoose, small Asian mongoose, gray langur, Indian crested porcupine and Indian hare have also been recorded. Reptiles present include mugger crocodile, Gharial, Bengal monitor and Indian softshell turtle.

To be honest, as not being a hypocrite like most fanboys,i believe that lions do have killed bears even larger in face off fights. But i have also seen many defects from those like,
1. Many sources taken from books were in the category of "fiction", "humor", "religion" or "church" etc which we know are not reliable.
2. There are stories saying that lion kills a grizzly with a single blow which we know can never happen.
3. Romans saying that lions would win from bear and bear are inferior in strength and courage etc. It could be easily debuncked as romans liked lion so obviously they would favor the lion. Further, the soanish people said that the grizzly bear is far superior to lion in fecority, sagacity, courage, strength and size.
● Note that lion fans have not even a single expert in their favour against a bear.

When Polar and I first started the 'Domain of the Bears', we had every know case of 'lion vs bear' or 'tiger vs bear' that could be found. A few years later, in seeing clearly how these old tales from old newspapers were more fantasy than reality, I decided to dele them all. The truth concerning lion vs bear in the Romain Circus Games can be found in the book, 'Bear - History of a Fallen King' by a historian of European History. |

I am not more interested in tiger vs brown bear it is a mismatch in bear's favor and the tiger favouring accounts have been analysed tons of times. Nowadays my main focus is on the lion vs brown bear. I am viewing accounts of lions killing bear.
To be honest, there are many true and many fake. The student room write of the thread of bear killed by lion has many defects. I have seen that some of the books that he use are ,"Humor", "religion", "Church" and "juvenile" etc. Further he shows an account of lion killing bear with single swipe at back which he was taking from a book which telled about a mythical greek tale of a lion, bear and monkey. See guy, just imagine a person who shows a mythical story and call it as an real account.

I would wager on the bear. Face-to-face is way different from an ambush beginning in a fight. I have read of staged fights between black bears and big cats with the ( BIG ) black bears always winning. www.askabiologist.org.uk/answers/viewtopic.php?id=546 I'm sorry to say that bears and lions have been pitted against one another on many, many occasions, always for human 'sport'. When brown/grizzly bears are involved, they always win hands-down: in fact, in historical pitted fights fought in Canada, lions were reputed to last less than 5 mins against adult bears. Even small bears like sloth bears can hold their own against adult lions, with the lion coming off much worse. I really want to research on this topic of bears killing lions in america. Have anyone found something about it? |
