How I personally rank the giant ape movies - old school report card: A, B, C, D, F ( F for complete failure ). 1- MIGHTY JOE YOUNG (1949) - A. 2- KING KONG (1933) - B .... constant size changing. 3- RAMPAGE ( 2018 ) - B .... a fun movie. 4- KING KONG (2005) - C .... if not for the over-the-top action scenes this movie would have made first place with an A. 5- SON OF KONG (1933) - C .... too much sillyness. 6- KONG: SKULL ISLAND (2017) - D .... a cross between a Sasquatch and a gorilla. Much too big! 7- GODZILLA vs KING KONG ( 2021 ) - D .... i haven't watched it yet - but same Toho monster as number #5. 8- MIGHTY JOE YOUNG (1998) - D .... a typical Walt Disney attempt to sugarcoat a good movie. 9- KING KONG (1976) - D .... again the bipedal Kong. 10- THE MIGHTY PEKING MAN (1977) - F .... trash. 11- KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962) - F .... fun for single digit age children. 12- KING KONG ESCAPES (1967) - F .... fun for single digit age children. 13- QUEEN KONG (1976) - F .... trash. 14- A*P*E (1976) - F .... trash. 15- KING OF KONG ISLAND (1968) - F .... trash. 16- THE MIGHTY GORGA (1969) - F .... trash. 17- KING KONG LIVES (1986) - F .... trash. 18- KONGA ( 1961 ) - F .... trash.

The highlight of 'King Kong' 1933 was his fight with T-rex. The highlight of 'Mighty Joe Young' was his tug-of-war against 10 of the strongest men on earth. www.inverse.com/article/17301-new-king-kong-will-be-100-feet-tall-as-monsters-including-godzilla-keep-growing KING KONG (1933) - 24 FEET ( 18 feet on the island; 24 feet in New York, City ) KING KONG (1976) - 55 FEET ( why? ) KING KONG LIVES (1985) - 60 FEET ( why? ) KING KONG (2005) - 25 FEET KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (1962) - 147 FEET ( WTH! - this giant ape is a TOHO monster ) GODZILLA (SHOWA ERA) - 164 FEET GODZILLA (1998) - 197 FEET GODZILLA (MILLENIUM) - 328 FEET GODZILLA (LEGENDARY) - 355 FEET GODZILLA: RESURGENCE (2016) - 387 FEET GODZILLA VS. KING KONG (2020) By all estimates, Godzilla dwarfs King Kong in pretty much every way. Even if the new film is set to make King Kong the tallest he’s ever been at 100-feet, that’s still almost 200-feet less than the last Godzilla. Now, anyone can tell you that size doesn’t matter, but in the case of two monsters fighting my money will probably be on the 400-foot nuclear lizard.

Actually the new film has Kong at 335 ft. and Godzilla at 394 ft. That's equivalent to a 30 story building.

From the book, "King Kong vs Tarzan" it is asked, "His parents are dead?" Penjaga, the old storyteller, the keeper of Kong answers. "Long dead. For Kong is older than your imagination would accept."
