This isn’t even a fight account. It’s actually a sculpture.
“Yet , where the ashes of De Saxe repose , 31 ( Leaving thy to a Goëthe's lyre ) I mark the GLORIOUS SCULPTURES that disclose The dust - of mould Herculean and of fire Cæsarean ; -while the lion's fangs in ire Gnash , and the bears howl overthrown..”

sydre à la main, elle annonce au Héros que ses moments sont écoulés;
MAURITIO SAXONI
CURLANDIE ET SEMIGALLIE DUCI
SUMO REGIORUM EXERCITUUM PREFECTO
SEMPER VICTORI
LUDOVICUS XV.
VICTORIARUM ACTOR ET IPSE DOX
PONI JUSSIT.
OBIT XXX. NOV. ANNO MDCCL. ETATIS LV.
C'est-a-dire:
Which translates to:
“This magnificent mausoleum, designed and executed in marble by Jean-Bap-
tiste Pigalle, sculptor to the king, brings together the beauties of a composition
brilliant and of a bold and grandiose style, those of a rich and
learned, at the same time as it presents a quite remarkable set
able of allegories of different genres, which, thanks to the in-
genius of the groups, strike the spectator with a mixed admiration
of astonishment, Placed in the choir of one of the largest go-
ethics of this city, it seems to have been originally intended to
core the vast and high nave whose perspective it completes. Never can
to be a similar monument has not found a more worthy location than it.
The Hero is the first object that catches the eye. At the bottom of a
pyramid in relief of gray marble, against which the sarco-
phage, paratt the MARKCHAL OF SAXE, under the warrior armour, the tele
crowned with laurels and the baton of command in hand, descending
with an intrepid step the steps of a tier leading to the tomb, and
looking at death with contempt. On his right we see, in the attitude of
the terror, the heraldic animals of three allied nations, the Aulriche,
Holland and England, over which he triumphed in the wars of Flanders; and their signs broken. To his left is a weeping genie, having the
eyes fixed on the Hero and holding his torch upside down. Was sick of the ge-
magpie are the French flags, raised and victorious. Below MA-
RÉCHAL and on the steps, appears France, squinting face, full
expression and grace. With one hand she tries to hold back the MARÉ-
CHAL, and on the other, to repel death. This one, whose skeleton is
hidden under an ample drapery, is on the left of the tomb, The clep-
syringe in hand, she announces to the Hero that his time is up;
she calls her illustrious victim and urges him to enter the tomb
she holds or verl. On the other side of the sarcophagus is a statue of Her-
cule, leaning on her club, whose male and concentrated pain makes
an admirable contrast to the lively and animated pain of France.
Below the sarcophagus we see the arms of the MARSHAL, in bronze,
crossings of two batons of command, adorned with the collar of
the Order of the White Eagle of Poland and surmounted by the Crown of
wedge; part of it is hidden by the shroud.
We read on the face of the pyramid this Latin inscription:
MAURITIO SAXONI
CURLANDIA AND SEMIGALLIA DUCI
SUMO REGIORUM EXERCITUUM PREFECTO
SEMPER VICTORI
LUDOVICUS XV.
VICTORIARUM ACTOR AND IPSE DOX
PONI JUSSIT.
OBIT XXX. NOV. ANNO MDCCL. STATES LV.
That's to say:

Partoat winner,
LOUIS XV.
Author and witness of his victories, erected this monument.
He died (at the Château de Chambord) on November 50, 1750,
in the 55th year of his age.
This monument is one of the most beautiful ornaments of the city of Stras-
town, which justly prides itself on possessing it.
As the late illustrious Professor SCHOBPrLIN had projected“
