TheUndertaker, seems like you chose a Sumatran Rhino with a cut horn to prevent poaching or a rhino with a very short horn correct? I have seen pics with somewhat longer and sharper front horns.

Based on my personal findings Sumatran rhinos generally have very short horns compared to black/white rhinos. I just used this model as it has a very good posture and the prominent reddish tone of colour.

The smilodon populator has stronger forearms than any extant big cat but it can’t kill prey the same way these extant cats can.

Do we have sloth bear and leopard as well as American black bear and cougar size comparisons ?

I did another comparison between a 165lbs Sri Lankan sloth bear and a 125lbs Sri Lankan leopard; I kept to the weight data on Wikipedia as I couldn't find nothing scientific about them. I adjusted the sloth bear to the weight of the leopard to have a fair comparison; note that this really is a sloth bear model, it seems like a sun bear as it was in the rain and all his fluffy hair had become wet. What do you think? sloth bear vs leopard.

I truly hate those contests ( posted in other places ) where they pit two or more animals against one. I mean; there are bigger dogs in this world. A bullmastiff in good condition just might have a 50-50 chance here. But, here, I would wager on the two. Not a sure bet though.

brobearIf I got attacked by large female hyena, I would instantly pick an Alabai/Bully Kutta out of all available dog breeds in order to protect me and safe my life.

brobearIf I got attacked by large female hyena, I would instantly pick an Alabai/Bully Kutta out of all available dog breeds in order to protect me and safe my life. Why that particular breed over say a Irish wolfhound, Rottweiler, Bull Mastof etc... ? Akita would be another breed I would be comfortable with.

tom I've read some good data on dogs over the past few weeks and it seems to me that the Bully Kutta is one of the most impressive breeds today. Tall like a big wolf, enormously powerful (however, not abnormally massive for his height at ~150-160lbs) and a fairly compact/large head ideal for gripping. I think this combination is the perfect mix for taking on a hyena; the modern Irish wolfhound falls under the category of sighthounds and lacks strength compared to the BK, the modern Bullmastiffs/Rottweilers are compactly built and massive dogs, however, they are quite a bit smaller than the BK. The same holds true for an Alabai who should also have good experience in protecting herds from wild predators due to his use as a lifestock-guardian dog.
