So Doug Peacock loves the Ussuri brown bear more than any other bear. I can’t blame him as my two favourite bears are the polar bear and glacier bear. No, he never said that. He probably loves the American grizzly more than any other bear, i can assure you that. Those bears saved his life, so now he is trying to save theirs.

"The Black Grizzly" that Doug Peacock admires is not a Russian bear. He lives in Montana. From the book; "The Essential Grizzly", or "Man Meets Grizzly" - Reply #143.

Reply #496... We see pictures like this of brown bears or American black bears climbing up steep cliffs ( wall climbing ). The big cat fanboys will not shut-up about bears being fat. Well, if they are fat, then consider the muscles it takes to haul all that poundage of fat up a steep mountain side; sometimes a long distance.

I usually get a little irritated when I see comments from some cat fans calling brown bears "fat" or "obese" (although I am a tiger enthusiast), when in fact they are not, they are very muscular and stocky. In fact, the fur gives the impression that bears are "fat" or "without muscles", for example: the Siberian tiger has many hairs that cover him, but that does not mean that he is "fat" or "without muscles" , brown bears are more muscular and stocky than tigers and lions.

Reply 501. I might guess it is a massive Peninsula Alaskan grizzly bear.

Reply #508: that is a great find theundertaker45 . The bear that lost had serious injuries althouth most likely not life threatening. He stole the female of the other bear. I would had loved to see that fight.

/\ For a moment I thought you meant Ussuri brown bear (which is also called the black grizzly) until I realise that Katmai is in Alaska not the Russian Far East.
