Q: What is the typical HB length of the Amur/Ussuri/Manchurian Brown Bear (Ursus arctos lasiotus)? A: 210 cm or 6 feet 10.68 inches - (6 feet 11 inches). Q: What is the typical HB length of the Amur/Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)? A: 195 cm or 6 feet 4.80 inches - (6 feet 5 inches). *Note: full-grown males of course: The typical full-grown male Ussuri brown bear will have better than a 200-pound weight advantage over the typical full-grown male Amur tiger.

This server hasn't had too many people talking recently, so I will say something REALLY controversial Tiger beats all bears below the coastal grizzly.

Because the accounts man, I can't get over them. Do we even have a confirmed account of a bear killing a male tiger ? If so I want all of them. I keep making revelations and finding new accounts of tigers killing bears man. My faith in bear christ isn't very strong.

But, I'm not going to do your homework for you. Go to: 'Amur Tiger vs Ussuri Brown Bear - Old Accounts' and start reading it from the beginning - page #1. There is not even one account of the tiger (the hunter) killing an adult male brown bear. We must keep in mind that it is the tiger that is the predator. The tiger is the only predator on earth that hunts bears for food. But, the Amur tiger only hunts black bears, adolescent brown bears, and female brown bears. Consider that a tiger will ambush a bull buffalo or even a bull gaur; but he fears to ambush a full-grown male brown bear. Also note that there have been times when, although rare, after ambushing a female brown bear, the tiger comes out second best. Also figure in, a tiger can easily avoid a big male brown bear. At a kill-site, it is highly unlikely that a tiger would stand his ground in defense of a carcass to face a beast that he fears even to ambush. If a tiger could kill an adult male brown bear in a face-off, then why would adult male brown bears not be on the tiger's menu? Surely, the tiger would not hesitate to ambush an animal that he could defeat face-to-face.

At least you believe the polar bear beats all big cats right? The polar bear is bigger and stronger than the coastal grizzly. Even the smallest polar bears from Svalbard and Churchill are the same weight as the coastal grizzly.

I already said I support a male Ussuri brown bear 7/10 in a fight to death. If cornered and willing to fight, a male Amur tiger can win 3/10 I believe (average weight vs average weight). I confirming where skibidibopmmdada stands.

The Ussuri brown bear is the largest inland brown bear, but not as big as a coastal grizzly. In fact, no tiger has ever been confirmed to have killed a bear of any species as heavy as himself or heavier. It doesn't take a Kodiak or a polar bear to kill a tiger.

I agree of most of what you say. However, what do you think of Dale killing a female brown bear almost his own weight? Bart S said that tigers hunt bears which are usually 100 pounds lighter than them but not always. Linda Kerley also said that both genders of black bears are killed and the larger brown bear - up to the weight of the largest female brown bear.

Also regarding the unconfirmed accounts, do you think there is at least 1/10 chance of it ever happening?

Also regarding the unconfirmed accounts, do you think there is at least 1/10 chance of it ever happening? Over the course of the past one-million years they have known each other, I'd say it's happened on very rare occasions. But, the full-grown brown bear is so thick in girth, that it would be time consuming for a tiger to manage to kill him. Meanwhile the big bear, professional wrestler that he is, is not standing still. My own personal estimation: Face-to-face, the full-grown male Ussuri brown bear defeats the tiger roughly 19 out of every 20 fights. By ambush, which probably never happens, I would give the bear, after being ambushed, 9 out of 10 the victory. Of course, these number are merely my own speculation. A brown bear is a mauler and a brawler. The tiger is a hunter and an expert assassin of ungulates.

/\ Killing a female brown bear is impressive. Even a female brown bear has a thick neck, thick fur, fat and muscles around her neck making her a powerful creature though obviously not as strong as a male brown bear.

The big male Amur tiger is nearly always successful in killing a brown she-bear from ambush. I doubt that he would relish confronting her face-to-face. Also, I firmly believe that a tiger would retreat from a charging mother brown bear.

There are accounts of male tigers of 4 years old dying or losing to brown bears. A 4 year old tiger is still an adult.

Even a she bear can give a male adult tiger a tough fight. So a male adult bear is a harder kill.
