Here is a comparison between an adult black, adult tiger and adult brown bear. As the picture shows that the brown bear is nearly equal to tiger in length but the bear is more robust, heavier and broader than the tiger.💪💪 The brown bear looks more scary than the other two.

The confirmed record Amur tiger weighs 270 kg ( 595.25 pounds ). The average full-grown ( 10+ yrs. old ) male Ussuri brown bear weighs 298 kg ( 657 pounds ). Therefore, the average full-grown male Ussuri brown bear has a 62 pound weight advantage over the absolute largest male Amur tiger.

Agree brobear, brown bears dominate wolves just like they dominate tigers. Lets me show you a logical example. There are many recorded fights between wolves and bears ( just like the documented bear and tiger fights), in which the bears that are killed are young and female bears killed by large wolf packs ( as adult male tigers killed young and female bears); yet there is no case of adult male brown bear killed by even the largest wolf pack ( which is also true against tiger as no male bear is even killed by tiger is recorded) so it shows that brown beads are not dominated by wolves or tigers. Wolves try to avoid adult male brown bears and do not mess with them showing the brown bear's dominance (tigers also completely avoid adult male brown bears) however the brown bear shows his true dominance by tracking and usurping wolf kills no matter how big is the wolf's pack ( similarily brown bears dominate tigers in kill disputes no matter of what age or gender the tiger is).So i can clearly see that simple logic and reasoning shows that in wild adult male brown bears generally dominate tigers in the same way as they do with wolf packs.

It is interesting to note that from 1992-present, the largest male amur tiger only weighed 206kg. Despite of eating very nutritious female bears, just weighed 206kg and if tigers grow that large (as fanboys argue) so he would atleast weigh over 250kg but thats not. Tiger weights are very overrated. Anyways what was the year when a tiger weighed 270kg?

I think a weight of 270kg for a very large Siberian tiger isn't too unrealistic; healthy modern individuals were found to average roughly 189kg by the STP with the largest being a young adult male of 212kg. However, that was limited to one specific population of Siberian tigers; the Siberian tigers wandering the Chinese border might be a bigger population. After all, Dr. Jhala himself weighed a well-fed Bengal tiger at 285kg, I don't see why the slightly smaller Siberian tiger couldn't produce a well-fed 270kg individual. When looking at individuals as the one I'll picture below it's very difficult for me to imagine that such a cat with this dense fur, good amount of fat storages and bulky body should be that much smaller than a Bengal tiger unless it suffers from dwarfism:

I agree that a 600-pound Amur tiger is very possible and there are very likely always just a few of them out there. But, this very impressive apex predator is not (IMO) going to choose a bear approaching his own weight-class as potential prey. Even he, the big confident male and lord of his territory, will seek out adolescent brown bears, female brown bears, and black bears on those rare occasions when he goes bear hunting.

A 600 pound Amur tiger is just as rare as an 800 pound male Ussuri brown bear.

A 600 pound Amur tiger is just as rare as an 800 pound male Ussuri brown bear. As a big male Ussuri brown bear can weigh in excess of half a ton (1,000-pounds/454 kg) I would say that a 600-pound Amur tiger is far more scarce than an 800-pound Ussuri brown bear. www.redorbit.com/reference/ussuri-brown-bear-ursus-arctos-lasiotus/ This bear has many similarities to the Kamchatka brown bear, but its differences include a slightly darker color, a longer skull, cheekbones that are not as separated, and a lower forehead. The skulls of adult males can reach a width of 9.2 inches and a length of up to 15.2 inches. The Ussuri brown bear can differ in size depending on its location; bears in the southern regions of Injeba’k Mountain can weigh up to five hundred and fifty-one pounds, while the bears found north of the mountain can weigh up to 1,322 pounds. They can occasionally reach greater sizes than their Kamchatkan counterparts; the largest skull measured by Sergej Ognew (1931) was only slightly smaller than that of the largest Kodiak bear (the largest subspecies of brown bears) on record at the time.

/\ Still a 1000 pound male Ussuri brown bear which is almost Kodiak bear size will be rare.

Reply 36. So which of the Ussuri brown bears encounter Siberian tigers more? These in the Southern Region right?

I believe that adult male tigers are displaced from their kills far more often that any biologist knows about. It is a well known fact that a sloth bear can and will displace a leopard from his kill with no physical contact with the big cat. It is also a well known fact that an American black bear can and will displace a cougar from his kill with no physical contact between the two animals. No cat really wants to fight a bear head-on. I can think of no reason why the adult male tiger would behave any differently from his cousins. It all boils down to basic cat behavior vs basic bear behavior.

I agree with you brobear.

So according to a scientific research, we have a new case where a brown bear dominated a kill dispute against an adult male tiger! Either the tiger is chased off or the tiger shared the meal, it shows that the brown bear dominated the cat. The fantansy that brown bears do not dominate adult male tigers in kill disputes is now nicely and sharpely debuncked. Its another great find by Mr. Warsaw. And here is its source:-
Note the words "tigers and the victims (prey)" and the "bear". The bears got in tigers over victim kills where bears dominated the kill disputes including also against an adult male tiger.
Fanboys are weeping a river.
