Quote; "There are cases where a huge brown bear simply decapitated a tiger." This proves (as if proof were needed) that a brown bear has a more devastating paw-strike than a lion or tiger, which has never been known to decapitate a rival with a paw-swipe.

So typical of the "Big Cat Fanbased" forums. Even though there was never found a single shred of evidence, that the tiger Ochlamid killed the bear Ochlamid and that Ochlamid was reported seen a month afterwards, they have not retracted their statements and continue with their lies. Same holds true for the tiger Odyr, which had been reported to have killed a huge male brown bear, which turns out to have been a three-year-old adolescent bear. Their lies have not be retracted. ______________________________________________________ Also on my mind; the record confirmed weight of a tiger actually weighed was just short of 600 pounds. However, tiger fans and even some biologists, when talking about tigers in general, will commonly claim that they reach weights up to 700 pounds. This is due to the fact that at some time, in the distant past, someone put the number 700 in print, and someone else came along and copied him, and the copying continued on and on to this day. However, no actual confirmed record exists of a 700 pound tiger. Just imagine the outbursts from the big cat circus if we started talking about one-ton brown bears.

So according to you brobear, what is a "failed ambush" ? Describe it for me please. Step #A - The Ambush. (1) The tiger uses his incredible stealth to work his way as close as possible to his intended prey undetected. (2) The tiger launches his surprise attack at an awesome speed. (3) The tiger makes physical contact with his intended prey. *Ambush completed. Step #B - The Kill. Now that the prey has been ambushed, the tiger must kill his intended prey animal or go hungry until his next hunt.

From "Mammals of the Soviet Union By Vladimir Georgievich Geptner, A. A. Nasimovich, Andreĭ Grigorʹevich" "Early in May, 1951 on the bank of Tatibe River (Iman tributary), a bear was found(body lengh 158 cm, weight 170kg), which had obviously been mauled by tigress" Presuming tigress weigh anywhere between 130-150Kg, It managed to kill 170 Kg Bear. This tells Tigers are capable of killing bears larger than itself. a 140 kg ( 310 pounds ) tigress kills a 170 kg ( 375 pounds ) grizzly in an ambush attack. According to the normal habits of the tigress, the bear was most likely a fat juvenile grizzly - male or female. However, there is also the possibility that the bear was a mature female grizzly. If so, the tigress was larger than average while the she-bear was smaller than average. The tigress would have had at least a foot ( 31 cm ) over the bear in head and body length. Sometimes an adult she-bear is ambushed and killed by a tiger. *Note; According to Warsaw, the bear's measurements and weight were estimated. The size of the tigress was not only estimated, but never even seen. In any case, there was nothing really unusual about this event. A tigress killed an adolescent brown bear.
