Brobear....why are we so attached and emotional about these animals? You think if i came across a male grizzly bear he would recognize that i love him and that i have been defending him for years? You think he would bear hug me softly?

Definatly yeah, a bear that size already has, and will destroy any big cat there is, tiger or lion.

Q. Why do I love bears? Especially the grizzly... A. I entered an animal face-off blog site one day ( in 2002 or 2003 ), and started reading. I was surprised that so many posters actually believed that a lion or a tiger would destroy a grizzly! I had just thought it common knowledge that a grizzly - the epitome of brute strength - could defeat any big cat; at least most of the time. Well, as I stepped into the quagmire of animal face-offs, I began to learn just how little I knew. Oh, I was right. But I did not know enough to put up a good fight. So I began to read and read and read some more. I have read 50-some-odd books on bears ( mostly grizzly ). In my school-boy days; I had read probably just about every animal book in the library. But most ( such ) books give very little valuable information. I had thought myself "animal savvy" but discovered otherwise. The more I learned about the grizzly ( strength, intelligence, durability, survival skills, etc ) the more I became impressed with "The Big Guy".

How was the animal faceoff debates in those days? Heated arguments, insults, name-calling, etc. Like a political circus. This is what we do not want here.

You people may not agree with what i am about to say here, but i will say it. In a face to face battle between a 1000 + lb kodiak bear, and a 600 lb amur tiger.....i am willing to put my daughters life on the line. But hey thats me....controversial.

I agree a 1,000 kodiak will win imo. I would be shocked if I was wrong.

The fact that an adult male Kodiak bear would beat the biggest tiger 9/10 times, makes me willing to put my daughters life on the line.

No, I'm actually quite the cave-man when it comes to computers. I grew up in the country ( North Carolina ), prior-service marine, prior-serve army, and retired after 44 years of low-wage jobs ( including military ). I have two daughters and seven grand-kids. Education: I finished the 9th grade. Earned a G.E.D. when I was 30.
