www.eatsleepswimcoach.com/muscles-during-freestyle/Swimming does involve using the muscles no other forms of exercise does. Weight lifting might get one bulkier but it does not exercise the whole body. Kodiak bears have strong forearms due to digging and possibly flipping rocks but polar bears which swim more often might exercise certain muscles more.

Do polar bears have strong teeth? They are designed to allow the Polar Bear a way to easily dig and to scoop the ice. Polar Bears have a mouth full of 42 extremely sharp teeth. Since they are carnivorous, they need them to kill their prey as well as to consume it. Their teeth are longer and sharper than those of the Brown Bear. www.polarbear-world.com/polar-bear-anatomy/

The only fair way to compare the Kodiak bear with the polar bear, in a size comparison, is to compare the Kodiak brown bear with the Foxe Basin polar bear. Since we are choosing the biggest living brown bear, it is only fair to compare him with the largest polar bears.

I agree 100%. Even though I favor the brown bear, the fact that the polar bear is the biggest living bear can be carved in stone.

The record wild polar bear on record weighed 2,210 pounds ( 1,002 kg ). The largest wild grizzly on record weighed 1,656 pounds ( 751 kg ). The difference is 554 pounds. Considering that the polar bear likely carried several hundred pounds of fat more than the brown bear; the true size difference in minimal. Actually the brown bear and black bears have more fat during late autumn to winter (40 to 50%). Polar bears have between 10 to 30% of fat all year round depending on how well fat they are. The yellowish white bears do have a thicker fur coat to prevent heat lost.

This comparison picture clearly shows us that no other living bear can match the size of the biggest polar bears. The polar bear is, without any doubts, the king of living bears. It took me a few years to learn and accept this.

However; when you compare Olympic champion Johnny Weissmuller a.k.a. Tarzan to weight-lifter Mark Henry, who would you say is stronger?

/\ The weight lifter of course. I think the Kodiak is stronger pound to pound. True; but when all is said and done - as a species, the Eurasian brown bear is the typical brown bear. Average mature male Eurasian brown bear (5 years+) - 590 pounds. A full-grown male is basically the same size as the Ussuri brown bear - average full-grown (12 yr old+) roughly 650 pounds. Average polar bear - roughly 1100 pounds. _________________________________ Biggest polar bear population - average mature male Foxe Basin polar bear (9 years+) - 1300 pounds. Biggest brown bear - average fully grown male Kodiak bear (9 years+) - 477–534 kg (1,051–1,177 lb.)
