Reply #60 - A giant panda three-year-old cub was killed by a group of yellow-throated martens. A 3 year old is more like a subadult already.

But damn, never seen this news before, its horrendous, a panda does not bother anyone. He was terrified. This really sucks. A panda is the cutest of all bears. Stupid martens.

Reply #64, so a "fearless" wolverine was finally caught on camera. Nice.

Skunk Vs. Black Bear: Which One Wins in a Standoff?
Bears usually avoid skunks, but the young bruin in this video didn’t. The skunk didn’t back down, either. See what happens I have to laugh a little here. Adult Bears know what comes out of that skunks rear end. They learn just like that young cub did and hopefully are smart enough to leave those things alone. I've had 3 German Shorthaired Pointers as my hunting dogs over the years and only 1 was determined enough to kill a skunk and retrieve it to me. YUK !!!! Needless to say he stunk up his portable kennel and his collar so bad I had to throw them both away. I do have a secret home remedy that takes 95% of the smell away though...

Have you been close to where a skunk let off his spray before, the smell is rank. Even road kill skunk puts out an odor that you can smell for a looooong distance away. I can't imagine how sensitive a Bears nose would be to it but it has to be overpowering.

The skunk can chase off almost every predator except the great horned owl. Birds of prey generally do not get affected because of their poor sense of smell.

One of the books I read, can't remember which one, told of a big boss grizzly who had never been known to walk around any living creature. You either moved out of his path or there would be trouble. But, on one occasion, the ( bear expert ) witnessed an exception to the rule when the big boar grizzly gave a wide berth to a skunk.

Reply 21# the account of the wolverine killing polar bear is not confirmed, it's just a myth. @taipan already mailed Wolverine Foundation about the account and the answer was that the case has never been documented. Check here at reply #33👇 carnivora.net/cheetah-v-wolverine-t7378-s15.html

Even a captive polar bear has a decent weight advantage over that little critter.

When Predators Attack (Each Other): Researchers Document First-known Killing Of A Wolverine By A Black Bear In Yellowstone NEW YORK (MAY 5, 2002) -- Lesson one: don't steal a bear's dinner. Last week, a wolverine - a ferocious member of the weasel family able to kill a caribou - learned this the hard way, according to a team of researchers from the New York-based Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
