Wasn’t there one already made?

Wasn’t there one already made? I was thinking the same thing. Some months back, I was noticing that we had several bear vs saber-toothed cat topics, and so I simply combined them. I probably caused the poll to disappear.

Neither Smilodon populator, Ngandong tiger, American lion, Homotherium latidens, Machairodus horribilis, Pleistocene Borneo tiger, Panthera Leo Fossilis nor any other big cat from anywhere or any time period could defeat a kodiak bear in 50% or better face-off confrontations. To start with, we have no conclusive evidence of a big cat of any species ever killing a bear of any species as big or bigger than the big cat itself - even from ambush. We must also keep in mind that all cats - ALL CATS - are specialized ambush predators. For any big cat to willingly for face-to-face against a full-grown male Kodiak bear ( Average fully grown male Kodiak bear (9 years+) - 1,077.3 pounds. ), would be a freak out-of-character ( for the cat ) event, unless the big cat thinks himself to be cornered, in which case he is desperate.

The male polar bear also beats all big cats both extinct and extant. The only other extant bears capable of doing the same age the Kamkatcha brown bear and the Peninsula Alaskan grizzly bear.

Large Kodiak brown bears can push over 550kg in spring condition; and in autumn large males may weigh over 650kg with the record being around 750kg. It's essentially a mismatch and not worth the discussion, the winner obvious and anyone denying it can only be considered an uneducated fool the majority of scientists would laugh at.
