You just need to resize them to what you want before inserting the image. I find that 800X600 pixels is usually sufficient size for most forums.

I have been seeking a chart from a biological study of the Kodiak bear. When studies are made, and bears are examined, they are measured and weighed. The weights of bears are averaged out to give an "average size" for adult bears of each sex. These averages include sexually mature but sub-adult animals some well under 5 years old. The average adult male Yellowstone grizzly was reported at around 420 pounds. But, when from the study chart I averaged the weights of all grizzly boars 10+ years old ( full-grown ), I found that the average fully-matured male Yellowstone grizzly weighs 500 pounds. The average adult Kodiak boar is reported at 700 some-odd pounds. I'm betting that full grown Kodiak boars ( 10+ years old ) will average at about 900 or 1000 pounds easily.

See topic bear size at: wildfact.com/forum/ According to the chart on post #288, the average full-grown male Kodiak bear weighs roughly 835 pounds; she-bear about 436 pounds. Compare with cave bear: The cave bear's stout body had long thighs, massive shins, and in-turning feet, making it similar in skeletal structure to the grizzly bear. The average weight for males is estimated to have been 400 kilograms (880 pounds).

Curious.. are these studies done on actual wild Bears? That would be difficult at best if they were.

Like I said very difficult indeed just to get the equipment to where the Bears are, non the less trying to hoist a heavy specimen in excess of 500 pounds.

I got a question about the kodiak bear. Are there any difference in claws between the kodiak bear and the grizzly bear claws?

Since a Grizzly and Kodiak are both Brown Bears their claws are essentially the same. The length of the claws likely varies with larger Bears having longer thicker claws than smaller bears.

All during their Spring, Summer, and early Autumn months of digging, tearing into logs, over-turning rocks, etc., a grizzly's claws are worn down. During his long Winter's sleep, the claws grow. A grizzly might have claws four or five inches long in early Spring and perhaps two or three inches long by late Autumn.
