brobear You are right about the tree climbing, but cheetahs were shown to have lower pc2 value than wolves which means they have more flexible limbs. A study by Valkenburg also concluded that cheetahs were better grapplers. Cheetahs also grapple a lot more intraspecific conflicts and while subduing prey. These are the reasons why they are better grapplers. Good point. Cheetahs fight with their paws and limbs to a degree while wolves fight with only their jaws. Canines can pin down prey and finish them off with their strong jaws.

Even tho the cheetah and the wolf are close in size and cheetah is taller, I will go with the grey wolf. More aggressive always fighting to get a higher status in the pack, lives in packs and fights with other wolf packs. The grey wolf has great stamina unlike the cheetah - even tho its slower than a cheeth it still can fight for a longer time. The grey wolf also has a stronger bite than a cheetah.
Both cheetah and wolf claws are dull so it won't give them more fighting points. I seen wild dogs stealing food from cheetah and they are 2 times smaller than a grey wolf. Not to speak about hyenas. Mountain lions, leopards, tigers, and lions are another level and will always beat a wolf - leopards are the strongest cats pfp and are known to hunt dogs in India. a grey wolf can beat a cheetah 65%.

I completely agree with short5facedbear ( Reply #21 ). The cheetah, like a greyhound dog, is designed for just one thing - speed. Sure, the wolf is also a runner, but as fast as he is, his number #1 quality is stamina/endurance. The wolf carries more muscle-power both in his jaws and in body.
