*Name your favorite bear species and why. My favorite living bear species is the brown bear. At some point since day #1 of the 'Domain of the Bears' began, my favorite brown bear subspecies has switched from grizzly bear to Carpathian brown bear. This bear ( to me ) seems to be the perfect picture of a brown bear. Not the biggest. Not a giant. But, far from being the smallest. A handsome bear. But, when we toss in the old with the new, then we can see my true favorite bear - I have hopes that one can be cloned - the cave bear - Ursus spelaeus - 'the most bearish of bears'.

My fave bear would be the polar bear and glacier bear. This is because they are animals of the north. The glacier bear is one rare jewel and the ‘polar bear’ of the American black bears.

My most favourite bear list:-
1. Brown bear, the champion of roman and california arenas. Its a apex predator. It rules it area and all animals fear him no matter how big from Russian Far east to as far as Central mexico.
2. Polar bear, the largest bear and king of the ice. Its beautiful too.
3. Asiatic black bear, its is most found in my country. Its pugnacious and is also known to kill adult water buffalo which is very impressive too me.
4. American black bear, i like its face more than the asian species. Its subspecies like glacier, kermode looks very good.
5. Spectacled bear, i respect this bear as the close relative of the gaint short faced bear. The only bear in Latin america. I like him to because the bear is the king of its domain.
6. Sun bear, a warrior bear with impressive weapons. The smallest bear.
7. Sloth bear, a very pugnacious bear and a warrior. To be honest, sloth bear are mostly ugly. 😕
8. Gaint panda, a cute yet very strong bear who rules its bamboo forest.
In prehistoric creatures, mine top favourite are:-
1. Short faced bear 2. Cave bear 3.Agriotherium africanum 4. Tyrant polar bear 5. Steppe brown bear 6. Atlas and California brown bear 7. All other extinct bears

Some will choose one that exhibits some other notable impressive features. Others will choose that which they are familiar with or even some nostalgic memory of. As for our friend, OldGreenGrolar, he is the most color oriented individual I have ever known. With him, its all about colors.

Don't leave out your other favorite, Ursus americanus kermodei - Kermode bear ( spirit bear ). In all honesty, you have some really cool favorites.

After almost 1 year later, i have learned a lot about Bears from both our bear forums and so my most favourite bear list has changed: 1. Brown bear. Like most other members, brown bear is the most inspiring bears to me. It is the most well-studing bear and the thing that excites me is that it covers a large part of the world. My most favourite subspecies is no doubt the Californian Grizzly which is sadly extinct. 2. Polar bear. I would never rank polar bears under no.2 as my most favourite bear. They are the largest of the extant bears and are fluffy and sublime creatures. Their survival and great accomplishments in such a hard climate fascinates me too. 3. Spectacled Bear. After learning about their large role in Native american cultures and mysterious features, i am going to love them more than before. I would like to see list of favourite bears and why from arctozilla, theundertaker45, hardcastle, tom and @granolah too.

I would like to see list of favourite bears and why from arctozilla , theundertaker45 , hardcastle , tom and @granolah too. 1. Polar bear. 2. Spectacled Bear 3. Sloth Bear Polar bears may be my favourite wild carnivoran of all. I just think what a total beast, when you combine the predatory feats on large marine mammals and just the ability to navigate the arctic and swim long distances. I feel like if it was a guy he would be SUCH a hard bastard deserving of so much admiration and respect. I have also seen polar bears in person ( in a zoo) and was amazed with their athletic ability and grace swan-diving into the pool and practically doing alley oops with the items zoo keepers were throwing to them and etc. I also think they can basically take on any living carnivore and be the favourite. MAYBE pacific NW coastal brown bears are a question mark, I dunno... but the fact I know polar bears can beat up tigers and lions for sure and ALSO perform predatory feats they probably can't... it's the favourite to me. Spectacled bear... the closest living relative to the short faced bear, which if it was alive, would possibly surpass the polar bear for me. I have seen some indications it is quite predatory. Just targetting tapir, even unsuccessfully, is impressive to me. I have a belief, or even a feeling, it's kind of more predatory than many other bears. Could be wrong. I like the idea of more predatory bears, even though the most predatory carnivore- felines, have kind of jumped the shark for me. I still prefer more predatory bears, like I prefer predatory hunting dogs. I'm impressed by skill to take down large beasts, and I'm not sure but I guess kind of want to believe from scant clues that spectacled bears are kind of extra predatory. Sloth bear... totally contradicts everything I just said. I don't believe it is very predatory. BUT I just can't help admiring how well it survives in tiger country by beating them up and telling them to F off, even when they are considerably larger than it. It has the highest proportional limb bone robusticity of any carnivore, and I just think it's a brutish badass mother effer. Tigers basically represent the best cat fans have to put on the table, and sloth bears are like "oh yeah cool story, hey I'm a female half the size of the tiger attacking me and I'm gonna go ahead and embarrass it anyway". Then on the other side big males make tigers poop their pants, so yeah. Badass bear. I'm also intrigued by the sun bear. I think it's very cool, it would be 4th. Elephant in the room? The mighty brown bear... I know it's arguably the baddest bear of all, or neck and neck with the polar bear, but I dunno... it just doesn't inspire me that much. It's almost too appreciated already for me to get excited about it. That and it's foraging and hibernating lifestyle, meh. It just doesn't do that much for me even though I recognise it is epic and very much the quintessential super bear.

1. Kodiak bears (these guys are beasts, and huge the toughest land carnivore (omnievrse really, if you’re excluding the polar bear.
2. Polar bears (their white skin is beautiful, they are great predators and are the hugest amongst the bears, I believe).
3. Sloth bear (these guys are aggressive, they also have tons of hair, just like me.)
