Puck is another one of our favorite gorilla moms! Her story is very unique as she was studied by Dian herself and was thought to be a male gorilla until one day Dian found her with a new infant and exclaimed “It can’t be!” and that’s how Puck’s oldest child got his name - Cantsbee 😉. Cantsbee went on to be one of our longest reigning silverbacks!

So Puck is mistaken to be a male. She might be the ‘BloodyPaws’ of the gorillas 😄. Only difference she has an infant while BloodyPaws is barren.

The Swagger. Not sure who this silverback is, but photo by Gorilla Doctors... Posting cos wondering if his specific facial expression here is one that has been studied and named/written about? Like the 'play face' and 'appeasement' facial expression has? I've only read a little about gorilla facial expressions. I'm certain I've seen silverbacks make the face this guy is making here a few times now when showing off/displaying - to me it looks like a "check me outttt, I am SO hot" sorta expression.

Gorilla Haven Gorilla Photos Bob Noell out for a walk with his giant gorilla Tommy, Chimp Farm-Florida. Pic is from a brochure/magazine I have, this pic also appears in some other books I have as well. I want to reiterate, the chain on Tommy's right hand was only when he would be taken outdoors for strolls, etc., he wasn't chained all day everyday or anything like that.

Bob Noell with his over 600 pound gorilla Tommy, Chimp Farm, Florida. This is a pic from an old Chimp Farm brochure I have, I also have the photo in a couple of other books I have as well. Bob Noell was not a small man, he was over 6 feet tall and weighed in the 200's and is dwarfed by the huge Tommy. PS, the chain on Tommy's right hand was only when Noell would take him out for walks or other outdoor activities so he could hold onto him.
