Prologue:
Summer was coming and the ice pack was melting. Many of my kind jumped into the water to swim to land and jump on an iceberg whenever they needed to rest. I choose to take my time as I had only just reached sexual maturity a year ago yet I know I am not strong enough to compete with the larger and stronger males of my kind.
I rested and fell asleep on the iceberg which was floating slowly to land and fell asleep as the sun was shinning. The birds were flying above me looking for fish to hunt and the albatross were returning to the north. By the time I awoke, I found myself in Greenland. I stretched my 1000 pound body which was not yet fully grown. Still I flexed some muscle and chased off a pack of wolves from their musk oxen kill.
I ate until I was ful before II heard a little cry from a human baby. My first instinct was to walk away as I wanted to rest. The other male polar bears were already fighting for the right to mate. The baby kept in crying until curiosity got the better of me. I got closer and closer and that’s when the little toddler girl smiled back and laughed as I poked my nose at her face. I looked left and right but could not find her parents. I looked into the girl’s green eyes and bonded with her as she giggled at looked into my brown eyes and reached out for my black nose. Eventually compassion took over and I decided to find her a family.
The pack of wolves which I drove off surrounded me and their leader, White Fur promised to take care of the girl if I stopped chasing them off their meals. A truce was form and handed the girl to them. “Take care of her well. I will check on her every year when I come back from the ice pack. Her name is Kira”. White Fur nodded and handed the girl to his mate Marsha.
I nudge the baby girl and said goodbye to her before looking for an opportunity to mate. A male barren ground grizzly bear was attempting to mate with a female polar bear older than me. Not under my watch. I attacked and chased off the grizzly bear. Although he attempted to fight back, my much larger size gave me the advantage and I won. I proceeded to mate with the female polar bear and spend hours to days with her before finally parting ways. I have managed to sire my first litter of cubs but I will never bond with them the way I did with the girl I rescued and named. My name is Maritimus, and I am a male polar bear.

Chapter 1: From one family to another.
The baby girl grew stronger while being nursed by the wolf pack. Three years passed quickly and she could not live on milk alone any longer. Since, there are limited fruits in the Tundra, the wolves decided its best the girl belongs with her own kind as she can’t eat raw meat and she would need new clothes soon.
The wolves brought the girl to Maritimus to say goodbye. The polar bear licked the girl before the wolves took her to Churchill. The found a house with an open door and the sound of a married couple inside talking about not being able to have children despite wanting too.
The leader of the pack when to the door, put his head and the baby girl in the warm house and left her there. The baby girl began to cry. The couple saw turned and were surprise to see a baby girl in their house. They feel in love with the child and looked after her as their own.
