Bears: The Mighty Grizzlies of the West (Hardcover) www.perlego.com/book/2696503/bears-the-mighty-grizzlies-of-the-west-pdf?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&campaignid=15825112969&adgroupid=132780865435&gclid=Cj0KCQjwheyUBhD-ARIsAHJNM-PnZi4DRELZfSCmyj79BpU-m821kabQ0NNdmhUsIlSHZuJHQrB2GkQaAhKqEALw_wcB An up-close look at the powerful, notable grizzly bears—legendary apex predators of the American West. The mighty North American brown bear, most often referred to as the grizzly, is an iconic symbol of power and strength. Mostly found in the Western United States and Canada, the still-endangered bruin has made strides into a tenuous sustainability. The strikingly beautiful photography, and the essay woven through the pages of Bears: The Mighty Grizzlies of the West, showcases this beautiful, smart, and incredible species. Julie Argyle explores their behavior, their family dynamics, and what it means to be a grizzly in the wilderness of the greater Yellowstone area. She includes stories about individual bears: Raspberry and Snow, The Beryl Sow, The Obsidian Sow, Snaggletooth, and 791 ( a famous boar ), and looks at the issues of increasing conflicts of humans and grizzlies and what the future holds for them. *Note: This book should be arriving tomorrow.

Well; now they're telling me that they tried to deliver it yesterday ( Saturday ). I had left the house to pick-up a few groceries at Food Lion and gas-up my car yesterday morning. I was gone well under an hour. Both the grocery store and the gas station are only a half-mile up the road. Also note; I had been tracking my package regularly and it had never read "out for delivery." Also, normally a package is left on the steps anyway. Bottom line - I'm done with Amazon.

Congrajulations brobear. . How many pages it have? I think its mostly tells that grizzlies should be respected. 24 pages. The author is a wildlife photographer. Great pictures from cover to cover. More pictures that writing, but she is very knowledgeable and knows the bears of Yellowstone. Not what I was expecting, but not a bad book. Edit and add: 5 books I highly recommend: 1- California Grizzly - by Tracy Irwin Storer. 2- Bear - History of a Fallen King - by Michel Pastoureau. 3- Cowboys, Mountain Men, and Grizzly Bears - by Matthew P. Mayo. 4- Bear-Ology by Sylvia Dolson. 5- Grizzly Years: In Search of the American Wilderness - by Doug Peacock. *Note: I'm still in search of a good book on the Eurasian brown bear and also the Ussuri brown bear.

The russian biologists of the Far east look like to be more interested in tigers than bears so basically they are books mainly written on tigers, not bears. The book written by a biologist Wayne Lynch, Bears of the north: A year inside their words tells about the brown bears, polar bears and both black bear species. I prefer you check that out. And i believe it would become your top favourite book as ithas become my top favourite. And if you see a good picture from that new book, so post it here. I might use it for my profile.

Bears of the North: A Year Inside Their Worlds. I typed in, "Bears of the north: A year inside their words" and got nothing. Then I went with "....inside their woods" and got nothing. So then, I typed in just "Bears of the North" and found it. It's in my cart.

Quote: "The russian biologists of the Far east look like to be more interested in tigers than bears so basically they are books mainly written on tigers, not bears." This is very true. However, I would think that where both the tiger and the brown bear reside, there would be some interest. Exasperating that there is evidently no interest at all, yet I find libraries filled with books about lions and hyenas.

My latest book: A study on Himalayan Brown Bear in India Paperback – July 13, 2011 by Rajkishore Mohanta (Author), Prakash Mardaraj (Author)

A study on Himalayan Brown Bear in India by Rajkishore Mohanta and Prakash Mardaraj. A disappointment really. I had the idea that this was from some recent in-depth study on the "red bears" of the Himalayan Mountains. But, this book is simply a look at past studies though nothing really in-depth. No weights of the bears are given. Nothing mentioned of any other animals that the red bear shares his habitat with.

Best Bear Books bear.org/bear-facts/best-bear-books/ Two books were produced in cooperation with the North American Bear Center and are particularly error free. Both are available in our online store. Bears For Kids (2007) by Jeff Fair was updated and republished in 2007 and is perhaps the most authoritative children’s book on black bears. Photos and text emphasize northeastern Minnesota. Discovering Black Bears (2007) by Margaret Anderson, Nancy Field, and Karen Stephenson. Books currently in print: Wild Guide: Bears (2005) by Charles Fergus. Grizzly Heart (2002) by Charles Russell and Maureen Enns. Bears of the World (2000) by Lance Craighead. Summers with the Bears (1999) by Jack Becklund. The Wishing Bear (2006) by Jennifer Dziekan (includes a list of bear facts from the North American Bear Center). Grizzly Seasons: Life with the Brown Bears of Kamchatka (2003) by Charlie Russell and Maureen Enns Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance (1985) by Stephen Herrero. Bear-viewing in Alaska (2007) by Stephen Stringham. The first and only bear viewing guide, this book describes this continent’s 60 best viewing sites, including the North American Bear Center. It explains how to select those sites best suited to your needs, and how to successfully watch bears in the field. Alaska Magnum Bear Safety Manual (2008) by Stephen Stringham. Finally, a safety manual based on a deep understanding of bear behavior and psychology. Stringham incorporates the wisdom of colleagues like Dr. Lynn Rogers in a book that doesn’t demonize bruins to explain why they occasionally attack people. When Bears Whisper, Do You Listen: Negotiating Close Encounters With Wild Bruins (2009) by Stephen Stringham. Using a rare blend of humor and adventure, this unique book explains step-by-step diplomatic techniques for minimizing risk through gently winning the bears’ trust and respect. Out-of-print books worth searching for: Great American Bear (1990) by Jeff Fair. The most in-depth treatment of black bears. Special focus on Minnesota. Photos by Lynn Rogers show a wide range of behaviors. Bears: Monarchs of the Northern Wilderness (1993) by Dr. Wayne Lynch is a good reference on all 3 North American Bears. It includes a scientific reference to support each substantive statement, allowing readers to go to the source. Great bibliography, index, photos. Walking with Bears (1999) by biologist Terry DeBruyn presents detailed, close-up observations of Michigan black bears. Bears: Majestic Creatures of the Wild (1993). Written by a panel of experts, this is a good reference on all 8 species of bears worldwide plus extinct species. Bearman: Exploring the World of Black Bears (1989) by Laurence Pringle. Winner of the John Burroughs Award. This book for young readers summarizes biologist Lynn Rogers’ early research findings about black bears around Ely. Bears: Behavior-Ecology-Conservation (1997) by Erwin and Peggy Bauer gives solid information on the three North American species. Great Bear Almanac (1993) by Gary Brown, former superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, includes unique lists of bear facts.
