Reply 46. I guess the bull will charge and the jaguar will most likely dodge and jump on its back to perform a skull bite or a strangulation to the throat.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0053977/ This documentary chronicles the life of a female spotted jaguar in the South American jungle. "Jungle Cat" 1960. Yeah, its old. But anyone who like jaguars should enjoy. I remember watching this when I was 11 years old. I was fascinated at the raw reckless courage of the jaguar.

In my opinion; the Andean bear is the Achille's heel of the jaguar. Of all the wild animals native South of the Mexico/USA border, a jaguar will ambush any except an adult male Andean bear. In fact, we have no recorded case of even an adult she-bear falling prey to the jaguar. Note: Nevertheless, the jaguar remains as the top predator of S. America. The Andean bear is not a predator in the true sense. Also note; just because we have no recorded case of an adult she-bear ambushed by a jaguar does not prove that it never happens. But, with neither evidence nor any witness, we cannot claim that it does happen either.

Question: is there a size limit for black caimans on the jaguar's prey list? By this I mean, is there such a thing as a caiman being too big for a jaguar to consider as being potential prey?

I think a jaguar should be able to kill an average black caiman in the range of 300 kg, am not sure about the largest ones of more than 400 kg.

Here is a good study on jaguars and caimans, did not read it all yet:
Depredation by Jaguars on Caimans and Importance of Reptiles in the Diet of Jaguar
Abstract and Figures
The jaguar (Panthera onca) is the largest Neotropical felid and in many parts of its range reptiles form a significant but relatively minor component of its diet. However, in the seasonally flooded varzea forests of the Amazon, terrestrial mammals, which form an important component of jaguar diet in other habitats, are largely absent and jaguars switch to alternative prey, including arboreal mammals and reptiles. In the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve in the western Brazilian Amazon, we document predation by jaguars on two species of caiman (Caiman crocodilus and Melanosuchus niger), which are abundant in this varzea habitat. The smaller C. crocodilus seems to be particularly vulnerable because of its size and tendency to spend more time on land than the larger M. niger. Jaguars not only kill and eat caiman but are also a significant predator on eggs of both species. We place our findings into the context of jaguar predation on reptiles by reviewing studies of jaguar diet in a variety of biomes.
