Both classics. After the original Jaws opened which spawned several movies about gigantic specimens like the movies Grizzly, Alligator, Lake Placid (original). They obviously were an attempt by movie producers to ride the coat tails of Jaws but never really had the same affect. Still I would call them classics.

Reply #181 - Sure, I gotta see this. But, I'm a tough movie critic. I already have one disappointment of Godzilla vs Kong. If you've ever watched the classic 1933 King Kong, my favorite part of the whole movie was the one-on-one fight between Kong and the T-rex. Kong was roughly half the size of the Tyrant King. The fight was -well- classic. The big budget 2005 King Kong could have topped the classic movie -IF- they had not over-done all of the action scenes. King Kong fought a pack of ugly mutated Z-rex monsters like "Kung Fu Gorilla". Too childishly horrible. So ( IMO ) the original 1933 classic remains as the best Kong movie of all time. Now; about my complaint. King Kong should not be as big as Godzilla. If Godzilla is 400-feet tall ( as he was stated to be in the original classic Godzilla ) then Kong should be ( IMO ) roughly 300-feet tall. Like I said; watch the Kong vs T-rex battle.

King Kong is almost as big as Godzilla and might even be slightly taller according to this picture above.

Agreed... 1 to 5 ( one being best ) Jaws -1 / Grizzly -5 / Alligator -3 / Lake Placid -1 / Orca -3 / Primeval -3 / Jurassic Park -1.

I wish that movie-makers would do their homework. A 36-foot alligator would weigh closer to 4 or possibly 5 thousand pounds.

The one scene from 'Alligator' that remains a vivid memory is when the kids are playing pirate. The little pirates have a boy as their prisoner. His mouth is gagged as they make him 'walk the plank' which is the high dive at a swimming pool. The little prisoner looks down and sees this enormous alligator, but is unable to tell his pirate friends. Tragic ending.
