brobearThe video of the two tigers confronting the black bear is staged; the animals were captive and placed in an authentic environment while probably being told what to do. That is typical of the old "documentary" films of the past; back then people wanted to see action and carnivores fighting and we know it is almost impossible to capture bear and tiger fights on live footage. I'd guess the tigers were adult males and the black bear was an adult female; the tigers looked to be 2.5x the size of the bear.

There is no need for a tiger to hunt a leopard, most likely he was looking for a wintering black bear in the cave.

Here is a moon bear in a tree with a tiger nearby. Fanboys claim this is a tigress and that she chased the bear up the tree. The video shows no evidence of a chase. In fact, the tiger does not even show signs of knowing that the bear is in the tree. Also, this video shot by very unprofessional people. If ( that's a big if ) the moon bear scurried up a tree because he caught the scent of a tiger, there is nothing unusual about this. Escaping up a tree to avoid what might be a bloody fight is simply the natural instincts of black bears ( both Asiatic and American ). But, the fanboys take great pride in their tiger when a smaller bear chooses not to fight.

There's a video of an alligator fleeing from a house cat so by applying their logic, we should support the cat over the gator in a serious fight ! 😂

Watching this video a second time; I'm about 80% convinced that the tiger is completely unaware of the bear in the tree. It is very possible that the bear caught the scent of the tiger and casually climbed up into the tree, which is the sensible thing to do. The tiger knows nothing of there being a bear nearby. The camera man/men; no doubts very unprofessional. Not knowing how to walk with a camera and whistling as if the bear might climb down and run to them like a Labrador Retriever.

I'm sorry that my last post ended this conversation. After all, that post is simply stating my opinion. Please feel free to post. In a fight to death which animal would you support between a big male Asiatic black bear and a big male Siberian tiger?

At HB length parity, I would favor the bear. The average Amur tiger is heavier than the average Asiatic black bear. Average mature Amur tiger (general) - 447.5 pounds. Average mature Amur tigress (general) - 284.4 pounds. Asiatic black bear - boar: 270 pounds. Yes, the average boar moon bear is not even as heavy as an Amur tigress.

/\ The average male American black bear is heavier than the Amur tigress. Sun bear - sow: 98 pounds. Sun bear - boar: 120 pounds. Sri Lankan sloth bear - sow: 150 pounds. Sri Lankan sloth bear - boar: 230 pounds. Indian sloth bear - sow: 165 pounds Indian sloth bear - boar: 242 pounds. Andean bear - sow: 165 pounds. Andean bear - boar: 308 pounds. Giant panda - sow: 220 pounds. Giant panda - boar: 250 pounds Asiatic black bear - sow: Asiatic black bear - boar: 270 pounds. American black bear - sow: 162.13 pounds American black bear - boar: 272.03 pounds *Note: I'm sure that if we could determine the average weights of black bears east of the Mississippi River, then we would have boars weighing on average well above 300-pounds. When the tiger fans brag about Amur tigers killing even the largest moon bears, a 440-pound moon bear is a huge bear (comparative to his species) but still not as big as the big male Amur tiger that ambushes him. I have serious doubts that a 450-pound Amur tiger would ambush a 600+ pound Eastern black bear from North America.

From a Conglomeration by: Apex Titan/Ghengis/Mountain Lord/Boogeyman:
Biologist Linda Kerley (her email to poster 'Jungle Sprout ', 2011) also stated: "I've seen tigers prey on black bears of all shapes and sizes, up to the largest and healthiest female brown bears." *Note; the bears are always smaller the the tiger. Perhaps a female brown bear fatten-up in Autumn might come comparatively close to the weight of the big male tiger - maybe.

Himalayan black bears are part of the Amur tigers basic diet. Adult bears (of all ages & both sexes) are regularly hunted and killed by tigers. But do the largest and most formidable male black bears, weighing 200+kg, also fall prey to tigers? *Note; 200 kilograms is equal to 441 pounds. We have found no 200 kg bear confirmed to have been ambushed and killed by a tiger. None of these bears were weighed. Note that the heavy ones were fatten-up for hibernation. At their Spring or early Summer weights, they would be the usual 100-pounds less in weight than the tiger.

Sergey Kolchin stated that the Himalayan bear is terribly afraid of the tiger and avoids him. Only large male bears, in some cases, are able to offer decent resistance when attacked by a tiger. But nothing more. Even the large male bears are usually killed when predated on: *Note: Predated on means ambushed. Therefore, they are saying that after a large male black bear is ambushed, he can still give the tiger a violent struggle. *Note also that when a 450-pound tiger ambushes a 350-pound bear, this bear is described as a "large bear." *Note also that it reads; "Even the large male bears are usually killed when predated on "Meaning that sometimes, after the tiger ambushes the big male moon bear, the tiger is unable to kill the bear.
