animalia.bio/black-caiman The Black caiman is the biggest of all species of alligator, some reaching six meters long. This impressive aquatic predator is the largest animal in the Amazon Basin. Superficially it looks like the American alligator, and its protective armored skin, as its name suggests, is dark in color. This skin color helps to camouflage it during its nocturnal hunts, and may also help to absorb heat. The lower jaw has bands of grey (brown in older animals) with white or pale yellow bands across their flanks. The banding fades gradually as the animal gets older. 6 meters = 19 feet 8 inches long.

Siberian tiger was killed by wild boar? Or did the sneak attack hunter get shot and headshot? The tiger corpse was dragged along!
There has always been a saying of "one pig, two bears and three tigers". When the corpses of a wild boar and a Siberian tiger were found at the same time, it was suspected that they were killed in a fight. However, someone broke the news that the tiger was shot and headshot because of a sneak attack on a hunter. The corpse was brutally dragged along. go. Was it lost to the wild boar? Still offended the hunter was killed violently, things are confusing. Tiger Blowing Armor: How could a tiger be stabbed by a wild boar! Tiger Blowing Second: What human beings have the heart to shoot and hit the big cat? Tiger Blowing C: It is only natural for a tiger to kill a human being. BOOK: THE MINDS AND MANNERS OF WILD ANIMALS.
"Another writer has given a vivid description of a battle to the death between a wild bull and a grizzly bear; and we have read of several awful combats between black bears and alligators, in Florida; but some of us have yet to find either a black bear or an alligator that will stop to fight when he has an option on a line of retreat. When he has lived long,–say to the length of twelve feet,–the alligator is a hideous and terrorizing beast; but, for all that, he knows a thing or two; and a full grown, healthy black bear of active habit is about the last creature on earth that a ’gator would care to meddle with. Pigs and calves, fawns, stray dogs, ducks and mud hens are antagonists more to his liking." books.google.com/books?id=1o85AAAAMAAJ&pg=RA1-PA275&lpg=RA1-PA275&dq="

While a huge male croc lacks the grappling abilities of bears and big cats, it has the jaws and a powerful tail to make up for it.

Reply 166. The black caiman is actually larger than the American alligator. I doubt a jaguar can kill the largest of them.

Reply 166. The black caiman is actually larger than the American alligator. I doubt a jaguar can kill the largest of them. I agree. I have seen alligators with cow-sized bodies. Those guys are dinosaurish. When appraising the big cats, the jaguar appears to be among the more courageous. But every predator will size-up potential prey before stalking and ambushing. I feel certain that there is a size limit to the caiman a jaguar will attack.

Impressive on the crocs part as it hardly ever happens. At least the elephant got saved.

At 50 years is a pretty short life for a reptile. Lolong’s life is still longer than that of captive brown bears.

So dangerous for any animal that drinks water from a lake or a river in croc territory. Am glad they saved the elephant. The crocodile probably attacked elephant while it was in water. That I agree. On land there is no way a croc would dare attack an elephant (except in one case where a Nile croc bit a female African elephant in the trunk while she was drinking water). Even in water, attacks on elephants hardly ever happens but again there is a first time for everything.

( IMO ) out in the wild, and if not shot by a poacher, Lolong might have lived longer; perhaps up to 70 or 80 years old. howlongdolive.com/crocodiles-lifespan/ Scientists today use a few different methods to determine the age of crocodiles even though none of these methods is completely accurate. One of the most used techniques is to take precise measures of the teeth’s and bones’ lamellar growth rings. These rings usually show the changes that happened with the growth of the crocodile and these changes usually occur once a year. Since there are 14 different species of crocodiles we must take all of them into account when determining the average lifespan. So, the average lifespan of all crocodiles is between 30 and 40 years. Of course, the crocodiles that are a little bit larger can live longer. For instance, the Nile Crocodile lives between 60 and 70 years just like the American crocodile. In addition, the Saltwater crocodile has an average lifespan of 70 and there are unconfirmed reports that some of them have reached the age of 100. The same goes for different species of crocodiles kept in zoos and similar facilities. For example, according to the official at the Yekaterinburg Zoo in Russia, a male crocodile that lived there died when he was 115 years old. There was a freshwater crocodile in the Australia Zoo that was between 120 and 140 years old when it died. With a proper diet, crocodiles in captivity can double their lifespan.

Agreed. If Lolong has live 70 to 80 years old, he would have been much larger and heavier as well.
