We have found 20 animals that will most likely defeat a tiger in a face-to-face confrontation. But, the tiger is an ambush predator. How many of these animals would a tiger probably refuse to ambush or likely be unable to kill if he made the attempt? (all animals-full-grown adult males) 1- Elephant. 2- Rhinoceros. 3- Hippopotamus. 4- Walrus. 5- Elephant seal. 6- Giraffe. 7- Polar bear. 8- Brown bear. ______________ *Note; I have my doubts that a big healthy male tiger, in his prime, would attempt an ambush on any of these eight animals even when desperate for food. I consider all eight of them to be immune to any single terrestrial predator attack.

brobear Polar Bear VS Siberian Tiger shouldn't even be a debate. It's too one-sided. Polar Bear wins easily, low diff.

Out of all the powerful animals a tiger can't ambush the hippo is the most aggressive and takes the cake. While rhinos are powerful they have poor eyesight and adult elephants are basically unapproachable. Tigers never hunt full grown adult male bears big as them or bigger than themselves.

In a head on a Polar Bear crush a Tiger 90 - 95% of the time. Sure in some cases the Tiger could blind the Polar Bear by scratching its eyes, but the bear wouldn't just be standing there.

Foxe Basin Polar Bears are 8 feet long and stand around 10 feet tall on hind legs, while Siberian Tigers are 6.5 feet long without tail and stand around 8 feet on hind legs. 10 and 8 feet is a huge difference.

Polar bear’s eyes are small in comparison to their bodies, not an easy target. Now male polar bears often fight to death during mating season yet their eyes remain intact. I say that male polar bear beat any modern tiger and lion, 10/10 but 90 to 95% is close so our opinions are almost the same. A male polar bear also hits much harder than any tiger, lion, and even extinct cats (smilodon populator, American lion, Ngadong tiger, and cave lions) as they are plantigrades while the big cats are digitigrades.

Brobear, when you mention brown bear, which subspecies are you including? Some brown bear subspecies are smaller than some tiger subspecies.

At equal weights it's pretty debatable on who wins. Also, wouldn't say 100% since rare cases can happen, but yeah it's a mismatch. 9.8 feet VS 8 feet, the standing height difference... the weight gap too.

/\ I rarely say 10/10 unless the animal is two to three times the weight of the other animal (depending on what it is). At equal weights, male vs male, it is a toss up, even though I give it to the bear slightly. At 200 pounds difference, it is 7/10 victory for a male Ussuri brown bear in my opinion.
Male Siberian tigers do prey on female Ussuri brown bears almost their own weight and both genders of Asiatic black bears (according to STP). There are two rare modern accounts of male Ussuri brown bears being killed which some posters call unconfirmed.
The male polar bear will defeat a Siberian tiger 10/10 in my opinion, because it is two to three times heavier on average.
The male polar bear is bigger and stronger than even the Ngadong tiger will win more often than not just not 10/10.
