Reply #42.. didn't show the hunt and the ambush. From the size; I would say a very young zebra. And it took 5 cheetahs do bring it down.

I just analyzed 4 or 5 different videos. I think that one at reply #42 is the only one of cheetahs actually killing a zebra. In all the other videos they tried, but failed.

(Haven't really analyzed them though) Are they hunting Juveniles or are these adult Zebras? I looked at probably half a dozen videos and none show a cheetah killing an adult zebra. Links? Cheetahs hunting in a coalition would probably not be the norm. They're not like Lions. Thompson's Gazelle, Impala, Warthog and maybe a few other smaller plains game are normally on the Cheetahs diet. Sometimes you'll see a female teaching her yearlings to hunt.

A Wildebeast is a tall order for even two male Cheetahs. I will tell you right now a Wildebeast ain't no adult Zebra. It would have to be multiple Cheetahs as in more than 3 to even have a chance IMO against an adult zebra. I will wait for the video proof....

After watching 4 or 5 videos of cheetahs hunting, i pretty much concluded that even a coalition of 5 cheetahs cant take down an adult zebra. 2 young cheetahs failed here:

A Zebra is not a slam dunk for a single Lion either. I would easily favor a single Lion against multiple Cheetahs of which would never happen in real life anyway. Adult Zebras are lethal with their front hooves and that deadly rear leg kick. Not to mention they will bite too.
I'm going to take a wild guess and suggest there is no video that exists showing Cheetah(s) taking down a killing an adult Zebra.

The lynx is only a third the weight of a cheetah.

So are you saying if a cheetah was feeding on a kill a clan of hyenas would steer clear of him? Hyenas have been known to drive lions off a kill. Please explain.

One spotted hyena could displace a cheetah. According to some reading, the hierarchy goes; lion, hyena, then leopard. ( crocodile evidently excluded ).

I was talking about single cheetahs killing adult zebras or wildebeest. An average ostrich weights around 250 lbs. Nice kill anyways, that was a female cheetah killing an adult ostrich by chase and kill.
