Now, I have been thinking how it will be like if there was an earth without bears (all animals except bears ever existed). How would the ecosystem be like ? Brown bears are useful for keeping the soil fertile with their digging, its like they are good at 'plowing'. I personally believe soil will be less fertile and some animals would hardly get robbed.

Actually, bears fertilize the forest floors when they deposit their scat and when they drag salmon around. When bears poop, they are depositing the fruit seeds that they have eaten, making new plants grow. Without bears, that will be lacking:
Why Bears are Important to the Environment
What comes to mind when you think of bears? Probably mean, wild creatures that roam the forested mountains and like to sleep a lot. Did you know that these creatures are of the paramount essence to the environment? Sit tight while I shed some insights on the importance of bears.
Why are Bears Important to the Environment?
For years, many people have tried to understand the peculiarity of bears. For starters, they can stand on two legs, pick things with their digits, communicate via scratching marks on trees, and eat what we eat making their behavioral traits resemble those of humans.
There is a wide diversification of this species ranging from Brown, polar, cave, and black bear just to mention a few. The specie is currently fading due to human interference, yet we understand that they have contributed positively to the ecosystem.
If you are not convinced, here’s why bears are important to the environment.
• Make the Forest Fertile
It is understood bears love to eat fish. By dragging salmon carcasses through the forest, they help to enrich the soil. This is good for trees and other forest cover vegetation. Additionally, they deposit scat on the forest floors. Animal waste deposits are great for enriching the soil. They act as a natural growth booster.
• Seed Dispersion
Bears help in seed dispersion. When they eat fruits, seeds do not undergo digestion and pass out as facial matters. Bears deposit these seeds on different parts of the ecosystem resulting in new plant growth. Black bears, in particular, eat a lot of fruit and vegetation so they are amongst the main seed dispersion agents.
• Clean the Forest and Maintain Ecosystem Balance
The forest would be littered with carcasses if not for bears. Even though bears are not scavengers, they help by eating these carcasses. Additionally, bears are predators by nature so they help to maintain the balance of the ecosystem by reducing the population of animals like the deer, moose, and bucks just to mention a few.
• Beautiful to Watch
Bears are amazing creatures. Scientists have not yet completely understood the ability of bears to hibernate for more than six months and emerge with all their physiological activities and bones still in good condition. The denning bear can completely shut down all its digestive and excretory activities and still support cubs. This has made them an exemplary tourist attraction. Watching these animals in their natural habitat can be a worthwhile experience.
Overall, we can see that bears are crucial to our environment. However, the bears’ population is at risk through illegal hunting and application of bearskins into woven fabrics. We should protect our bear population at all costs to maintain a balanced ecosystem.

For the readers of this thread that are kind of "slow" sort of speak, tigers and lions dont drag salmon around nor do they eat fruits, that is why they dont help enrich their environments at all.

Apart from bears plenty of omnivorous birds also fertilise the soil with their scat and distribute the seed on different parts of the forest. One of these birds are the jays.

brobear, how do you think earth will be like if bears never existed?

The Butterfly Effect would change everything. Bears played a huge roll in ancient history. Exactly what those changes might be; you need a prophet. The American Northwest would be a much more boring place. Without bears, there might be more tigers. My number #1 animal might still be the gorilla. The "Domain of the Bears" might be "The Domain of the Great Apes". *Oh, just one more thing. The "Lion vs Tiger" debates would be even more heated. They would be arguing for "Greatest Land-Based Carnivoran on Earth" which is now shared equally by brown bear/polar bear.

And we would have less debates in general given bears are one of the most popular animals (especially the brown bear).

AN EARTH WITHOUT BEARS:
Siberian tigers would eat more meat. Wolves would eat more meat. Pumas would eat more meat. Leopards would eat more meat.

The cave lions would also have more meat and a cave all to themselves.

If the earth had no bears, I personally would be twice as focus on dragonflies as I am now.

I simply blundered onto one and started reading. I was like, "What the flaming hell!!?!! These guys honestly believe that a lion or a tiger can best a grizzly? I found it hard to comprehend anyone thinking this. I was hooked.

An earth with no bears:
Life would not be the same as we know it.
Just joking, ha ha ha.

An earth with no bears:
Life would not be the same as we know it.
Just joking, ha ha ha. Actually, there is truth in this statement. Consider the "butterfly effect", no ancient bear cults ( which began way back during the early years of the Ice Age ). No Berserkers among the Vikings. No bears in the Roman games. No bear i the tales of Davy Crockett. No grizzly for pioneers into the American west to tell about. No grizzly on the California flag. No bull and bear fights. No Russian bear. With the butterfly effect, history would have happened very differently.

I feel like a similar creature would evolve into a bear like creature based on life on earth comes to be.

I feel like a similar creature would evolve into a bear like creature based on life on earth comes to be. I agree; there was a raccoon species the size of a black bear.

A giant raccoon species? How interesting. Thanks for the inspiration to write another good story.

Without bears:-
1#..Wolves will eat their food without disturbance.
2#..Big cats like tigers and couagrs etc would not face usurpation of kills another the canid groups.
3#..Big cats and canid would dimonate the animal kingdom.

Without bears I would be only talking about wolves and lions as they are my second best animals after bears.
