Reply #7 - Years ago I read an interesting article on the sperm whale. Some of the whalers back during the days of whaling kept the jaws of bull sperm whales as souvenirs. Well, biologists came upon some of those old souvenirs, and were very impressed by the size of some of them. According to the article I read, the length of the whale can be accurately determined by the length of a jaw. Back before the terrible whaling slaughter which nearly brought some whale species to extinction, a bull sperm whale could measure over 80 feet long. That's about 20 feet longer than the biggest bulls of today. Moby Dick was monstrous!

/\Bull sperm whales were once upon a time much larger than they are today. Thanks to ‘sea poachers’ hunting them to near extinction 😡.

There have been a couple of good movie versions of the classic, "Moby Dick". I read most of the classics but not that one. But here is a movie that, if you haven't seen yet, you should: www.imdb.com/title/tt1390411/ In the Heart of the Sea (2015).

I was so moved by how passionate he was about exacting his revenge for the whale taking his leg. The guy climbs onto the whale and starts stabbing it mindlessly knowing that he would die to satisfy his vengeance. It was one of the best movies I've ever seen as a preteen.

www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/thar-they-blow-67990416/ While hunting in the equatorial Pacific, the Essex crew encountered a sperm whale bull some 85 feet long and weighing about 80 tons. It faced the ship, spouted from its blowhole and charged, its forehead breaching the swells and its great flukes thrashing the sea to white water. The collision shook the 238-ton vessel and sundered its oak-and-copper hull.

Reply 8. Thanks tom , according to a poster named Pantherine , a white lion is born naturally in the wild. All white tigers descended from a white tiger named Mohan and are the product of inbreeding.
