I will not be returning to Carnivora. Trying to debate with juvenile delinquents is pointless. Nothing gained.

One trick that I would never pull on our members here - its a Carnivora juvenile action. If a member of that group has any opinions concerning the animals that are not in alignment his own opinions, he then takes away your ability to use the Carnivora messages. He doesn't want you communicating with friends where he cannot eavesdrop on the conversation. This is the sort of behavior one might expect from little girls from ages 11 to 15.

We haven't seen an invasion of cat fanboys here for some time now. I've always wondered what attracts people to sites like carnivora, wildanimal warfare etc etc. is it because you can say what you want as long as it aligns with the administrators viewpoints? That would seem to be the case over at Carnivora. I think a lot of reasons why we don't get many new members here is because they're just not a lot of bear enthusiasts out there or they're not looking for forums to post on. I have a feeling that our website is used more as a reference or a information site on bears. That would explain why we see a lot of visitors but not that many people joining.
Curious as to what others thoughts are on this?

Well, its obvious why Tom. More than 80% of the debators are cat fanatics. They need to have a lion vs tiger. Its a flame war in every single forum that allows it. This is exactly why all the "vs" debates are banned at Wildfact. The Domain is more like a "bear worship" forum than a "debate forum". Can you imagine big cat fans posting bear pics or bear info on these threads? Why should they? They are cat fanatics. We are doing just fine the way we are. Unless we get someone like Peter or Wolverine, lol.

Over at Carnivora, you find any animal vs any animal from any time period. It gets completely into the ridiculous. But when I offered American black bear vs cougar - oh no! We can't do that! ( people might vote on the bear ).

The Domain is more like a "bear worship" forum than a "debate forum". See I don't think so, at least not personally for me. Let me explain, I consider myself as a Bear enthusiast or maybe a better word would Bear hobbyists. I also enjoy reading and watching documentaries about Lions, Great White sharks, Orcas etc.. by the way this years Shark week I thought had some really good episodes. How many here would consider themselves a Bear fanboy? What constitutes the word "fanboy". In the case of a Bear would it be a Bear worshiper whos ideals revolve around Bears as superior animals that cannot be equaled in anyway, shape or form when compared to other predators? I thought I remember a member here a while back stating "I'd die for a bear". Is that a fanboy or worshiper talking or just an exaggeration. Would you really die for a Bear? I hope you wouldn't. I'm glad you think we are doing just fine, but it could be a lot better imo if we could attract others that may not be hard core Bear enthusiasts but more animal lovers in general. Finally and I really don't get it as to why some forums popularity seems to revolve around debates animal vs animal? I mean it can be entertaining an all if done respectfully, but most don't. If Mods and administrators can't gain some control over their forums and enforce rules they usually spiral out of control. I suspect that is why some very knowledgeable posters end up leaving due to all the juvenile delinquents that spoil a forum due to lack of discipline and leadership. Anyway just thinking out loud.

Bear worship has existed in Eurasia and in N. America centuries ago. But no, I'm not a fanboy. What constitutes the word "fanboy"? Within these wild animal face-off forums I have known both lion and tiger fanboys. They can both be found within each and every wild animal blog site. A bear enthusiast cannot have a sensible debate without the juvenile fanboys spouting off with their ridiculous notions which we have proven wrong here so often. Regardless of the fact that there are no confirmed reports of a full-grown male brown bear ever killed by a tiger; they continue to say tigers hunt and kill them. Regardless of the fact that no tiger has ever been confirmed to have killed an adult bear ( any species ) weighing more than himself, the fanboys continue to say that a tiger will kill a brown bear of any age, sex, or size. They are all juvenile children ( regardless of age ) who are incapable of admitting to the truth. I have yet to meet even a single bear fanboy. Unlike the big cat fanboys, we admit to those wild animals who can defeat even the biggest of bears; and that is quite a sizable list. We have the maturity; the ability to man-up. What really gives them away is when a big cat fanboy claims his chosen cat-god to be physically stronger than a brown bear. They might just as well claim a cricket to be stronger than a moose. Edit and add: I remember one bear fan who was banned ( can't remember from which blog site ) because some of his claims were too far-fetched. He believed that a really big brown bear could take down a bull hippopotamus. The problem was crystal clear to me. He was young, probably mid teens and simply had some learning to catch-up on. He was not a fanboy; simply uneducated in wildlife facts. I was pretty green when I first started too. During debates, fanboys always ( never fails ) call me a bear-worshiping fanboy who hates tigers/lions. I am the great cat-hater ( according to the fanboys ). Truth is, I have a huge respect for the big cats. Just because I happen to know this one member of the order Carnivora which is a stronger/better fighter than either lion or tiger does not make me a cat-hater. Each and every one of us who get involved in wild animal face-off forums walked in as an animal lover. We all have that in common. When a fanboy says, "bears are vegetarian", I tell them yes, plants are a major part of a bear's diet. When he says, "bears are not great hunters", I tell them that if a bear was a great hunter, then bears would not sleep through the Winter months. When he says, "a bear is not a proficient killer", I tell them that this is normally true. When I mention that all cats are ambush predators... "Wah wah wah wah!!!" t2246

It was March 2017 that the Domain began. The Domain is now more than 3 years old. We should wish the forum a happy birthday every March of the year.
