Hikers in Yellowstone have to understand that coming in contact with Bears is a good possibility. Your in their backyard. If you surprise a Mother Grizzly with cubs she's only reacting out of instinct. So hikers need to understand this can happen and I'm sure this hiker is not blaming the Bear for what happened.

I once read online; facts about sloth bears... "Of the eight species of bears the sloth bear is pound-for-pound the least muscular". I have searched and searched... no results.

The sloth bear looks more robust than the sun bear and spectacled bear at least.

This by no means that sloth bears are weak; simply less muscular than other bears - IF it is reliable information. Well, until one of us blunders upon this again, we won't know.
