The record short-faced bear skull, from the biggest Arctodus simus specimen ever discovered, measures 20.51 inches. The record brown bear skull, that of a Kodiak, measures 19 and thirteen sixteeths inches long. The length difference is less than one inch. However, the skull of Arctodus simus would of course be much wider and heavier. Compare these to the 540 millimeters / 21.26 inches skull of Ursus ingressus.

The giant extinct ape has the biggest skull of all so I can imagine it’s size. The latest info shows it has been downsized so if might have one of the biggest head in proportion to its body size.

parody.fandom.com/wiki/Ussuri_Brown_Bear#:~:text=Adult%20males%20have%20skulls%20measuring,on%20record%20at%20the%20time. The Ussuri brown bear (Ursus arctos lasiotus), also known as the black grizzly is a population of the brown bear. One of the largest brown bears, Ussuri brown bears approach the Kodiak brown bear in size. It is very similar to the Kamchatka brown bear, though it has a more elongated skull, a less elevated forehead, somewhat longer nasal bones and less separated zygomatic arches, and is somewhat darker in color, with some individuals being completely black, a fact which once led to the now refuted speculation that black individuals were hybrids of brown bears and Asian black bears. Adult males have skulls measuring 38.7 cm (15.2 in) long and 23.5 cm (9.3 in) wide. They can occasionally reach greater sizes than their Kamchatka counterparts: the largest skull measured by Sergej Ognew (1931) was only slightly smaller than that of the largest Kodiak brown bear on record at the time.

Ussuri brown bears are generally smaller than Kamkatcha brown bears, however, they can potentially reach Kodiak bear size. Given an Ussuri brown bear enough spawning salmon and they would probably be larger than they are now.

I took a look at the Boone and Crockett link, and that record grizzly skull was found in Lone Mountain, Alaska, this is a little north of the Alaskan peninsula, so i am not so sure if that skull would be considered from an Alaskan peninsula grizzly or an interior grizzly bear. But if it is from an Alaskan peninsula grizzly it would make more sense as that skull belonged to a bear that was most likely larger than the record Ussuri brown bear skull, thus the larger skull.
Look how close Lone Mountain is from the Alaskan Peninsula. What do you think brobear? Would this bear be considered as Ursus arctos Gyas? Or its already too far inland?

Appears to be a good 250 kilometers (155.34 miles ) from the nearest sea. I would say inland grizzly as was told.

From the picture above, I would think that back to the mid-1800s this was bison and grizzly country.
