We will not discuss the fights here. Simply name your favorites and tell why. This is my list: 1- Arctodus simus the N. American short-faced bear vs Ursus ( ? ) tyrannus the biggest-ever bear of the genus Ursus ( probably a grizzly ). My reason: This battle would prove which genus of bear is/was the better fighter. 2- Kodiak bear vs Sumatran rhinoceros. A 1400 pound Kodiak bear stands against a 1400 pound rhinoceros. My reason: The bear's ultimate challenge. 3- American black bear vs mountain gorilla. A 400 pound black bear faces a 400 pound mountain gorilla. My reason. Curiosity about the strength of each.

- Polar bear vs Kodiak bear. My favourite land predator and extant bear fights the most powerful (among my top 20 favourite animal) and the battle of the two largest and strongest extant land predator and bears.
- Lappet faced vulture vs Eurasian black vulture. My two favourite vultures and birds of prey fighting and attacking each other.
- Mountain blue bird vs House sparrow. My favourite bird and animal fighting against its arch enemy.

1) brown bear vs tiger at weight parity. Because its the only way a tiger would have a chance. Bears with a weight advantage is overkill and it should not even be debated.
2) polar bear vs kodiak bear. Battle of the 2 largest extant species of bear.
3) Kodiak bear vs Smilodon populator. The largest and strongest extant brown bear subspecie vs the largest felid ever on average.

As mentioned on Reply #3, we will not debate face-offs here; most especially the one I am about to mention. ( IMO ) Lion vs Tiger is just about the most ridiculous debate and is in every forum (where allowed ) the most active debate. This is where the big cat fanboys try to outdo each other with cherry picked data, century-old newspaper clippings, and fake news. Basically, they are throwing cow paddies at each other. ( IMO ) its a cat fight. The outcome depends on the individual animals involved; age, sex, size, mental and physical condition. One will win this fight as often as the other - its a cat fight. 'Nuff said. *Note: my top 3 debates remain the same as stated in the opening. *Edit and add: "cat fight" = lion vs tiger or lion fanboy vs tiger fanboy ( terminology works either way ).

Mine are:-

2. American black bear vs Asian black bear
3. Golden eagle vs Bald eagle
(Male Brown bears or polar bear vs lion or tiger is unfair that is why not included).

The only male brown bears which are evenly match with tigers and lions would be the barren ground grizzly, Tibetan blue bear, Himalayan red bear, and Syrian brown bear.
Even then the bear is stronger being a plantigrade and bulkier while the tigers and lions have greater agility and are powerful a animals as well.
The brown bear does have some fat but it is not useless and it helps protect the vital organs etc.
One can have fat and still be a good fighter if they know how to utilise it.

( the big cat fan's last hope ). 2- Kodiak bear vs Sumatran rhinoceros. ( probably the brown bear's greatest prey challenge ). 3- American black bear vs gorilla at weight-parity. ( if the gorilla truly has great strength, he will be forced to put it to the test ). 4- Arctodus simus vs Daeodon. ( when these two monsters battle over a carcass, which one feasts )? 5- Saltwater crocodile vs tiger shark. ( an even match-up ).
