I forgot to point out that the tiger is only 350 pounds, could be a slightly smaller than average male. Regardless, a male polar bear is way stronger than even the biggest tiger.

A male tiger might be stronger than a tigress but it is still easier to kill compared to even a male inland grizzly bear and Ussuri brown bear - both bears are smaller than an average male polar bear.

Reply #203: so even according to Boldchamp, a female kodiak bear is basically the same size as a male lion. the bottom pic shows the bear being just slightly taller at the shoulder.

Average fully grown female Kodiak bear (7 years+) - 446.5 pounds. Average Panthera leo (species, extant, concluded out of the two present subspecies) - 371.3 pounds for males. 75.2 pound weight advantage for the Kodiak she-bear.

Neither the African lion nor either the Amur or the Bengal tiger stands any chance against a full-grown boar polar bear. This is not opinion; it is a fact. This topic is a mismatch. But we do now have the topic open: "Amur tiger vs polar bear sow" which is debatable. Full-Grown male polar bear easily defeats any lion or tiger. Bear wins. ( closure )

Great thread. Just let me add something, i dont know if you have seen them but there are 4 accounts of polar bears killing or defeating lions, including a female polar bear that killed 2 African lions. This means sick/weak/overheated polar bears killing healthy lions. In debates, the accounts of lions killing polar bears are posted alot but people somehow "ignore" that i found 4 accounts of polar bears killing/defeating lions. I cant post them as captive accounts are against the rules here.

Welcome to the forum @assasin , the accounts you posted confirm my thoughts. No polar bears in captivity can be healthy. Due to animal rights, polar bears in captivity might be larger than before but they will never be as healthy as a wild polar bear.
Male polar bears beat all tigers, lions, and extinct big cats. I am not putting down these big cats and acknowledge they are very powerful, however, there is no way they can win in a fight with a much larger carnivore.

In hot weather they suffer very much.
Even in cold, frosty weather, (never mind a hot zoo), polar bears get completely played out (tired), long before any ordinary bear would consider he had begun.

Good thread but I'm personally at the point where I feel that anyone that truly believes that a tiger or a lion could defeat a polar bear under fair conditions using average weights, common weights, or max weights more often than not, is either misinformed or straight up biased for big cats. Also the very fact that weakened polar bears have won against healthy big cats just further adds on to how ridiculous this debate even is. The cat's best can't even beat the polar bear's worst! Give me a break.
