You nuts? No need to apologize, alot of news and accounts get posted more than twice, there is too much info and too many threads.

Not something you see everyday. Notice how the Grizzly attacks the Elks spine. Click on watch this video on Youtube to watch
I wonder if this is the same Bear and Elk that are in reply #264 as the shoreline at the end looks similar.

Reply #271 = Video unavailable. Its the video of the grizzly that killed the elk with a bad leg in the water. You have to click twice in the middle because the playback on other websites has been disabled by the video owner.

I thought the shoreline look familiar so it is the same one with the bear who is guarding the dead elk from the wolf.

one of the best kodiak bear documentaries i have watched That looks good nocapakabl, I'll have to make a point of watching it all. Here's my favorite of all time: The Great Bear Stakeout Unfortunately you'll have to watch bits and pieces of it on Youtube because no one has the full episodes unless you pay.

Yeah I believe it was BBC that had it originally. It's two parts so possibly 3 hours or so total. The two main Bear characters in the documentary are Van a 1000 lb plus (probably closer to 1200 lbs?) male coastal bear and his love interest Alice. Both are dominant Bears and Van is the dominant Bear of his territory. The relationship those two had was what made the documentary such a success IMO. Even if you watch the bits and pieces it's still good.

Grizzly Bears and Wolves in Yellowstone - Reply #2 - If I'm not mistaken, this is my favorite. This big male grizzly skipped hibernation to spend a Winter following a pack of 14 wolves; living off their kills.

A little update from mine; #791, the bear who killed the bull elk in September, is estimated to weigh over 600lbs; it appears to me that he hasn't been weighed yet, therefore the different assumptions. He currently is 9 years old and here is a video of him being chased off his carcass by a 17y old veteran:

We can see that experience is a huge advantage in conflicts between brown bears; #791 is larger than the veteran but lacks the "guts" to pose a serious threat. Give this bear one or two more years and I'll bet that the outcome would be different, he is on a good way to become the dominant male of Yellowstone National Park given his size (and we have to remember that Yellowstone grizzlies put on weight until they are 15y old; he hasn't even achieved his biggest possible size yet).
