Theory and Imagination through educated guesswork about the future of the polar bear should they survive this human over-populated planet for another 100 years. How will this king of the North Arctic be living in the 22nd century?

It will not be doing well. Human pressure is too much and too fast, and most likely we'll die within the next century anyway.

According to scientists studying the weather, a 30-year hard winter is drawing near, which could possibly last much longer than 30 years. Also, the burst of global warming was a natural event which precedes the beginning of an ice age. Yes, "The Ice Age Cometh." I believe that sport hunting in the arctic will slow down during this upcoming 30-year winter time period. In fact, those who go hunting will be more apt to hunt game animals for food. They will not be in the high arctic but where deer and other game animals live. The coming cold weather could be, I would think, a blessing for polar bears.

I think they will adapt to living on land and become brown bears once again. In fact there's a documentary about that in the polar bear videos/docs.

And for the global "cooling"...it might be possible that the government is doing some weather manipulation as well. They've definitely done so in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, so why wouldn't they do the same throughout the planet, incite some data from self-paid scientists recording their man-made "cooling" phenomenon, and create an agenda about "global cooling" as well. But I went quite off-topic for a bit there. So I'll just leave it at this.

Another possibility: Polar bears could possibly split into two groups. Some may migrate south where they will be blended into the existing grizzly population while others remain on the arctic shores where they will eventually adapt to an even more aquatic lifestyle.

Sea bears is definitely a possibility. Polar bears excel at swimming and may become fast enough to grab prey.

I like this idea brobear! There is no leopard seal equivalent - extant in the Arctic, so it is certainly scientifically plausible - as a niche-extension.

I hope we can save polar bears. I think they are really cool. We need to do something about climate change.

According to some scientists, global warming has ended and we are now on our natural course towards the next Ice Age. If they are correct, hard times are on the horizon... but good news for polar bears.

If they are correct, hard times are on the horizon... but good news for polar bears. No, according to actual scientists (and not "alternative scientists"), global warming and general anthropogenic climate change will accelerate in the future from the way it is now. Expect many feedback loops (release of methane, CO 2 over-pollution in our waters as a result of ocean acidification, etc...). This can not be debated. Polar bears will most likely (or definitely) die, and I definitely don't like that to happen. As a result of the released methane under the northern permafrosts, new viruses and superbugs, impervious by our current antibiotics and medication, might start to invade the air there and eventually most of the planets. Well, most bear populations (brown and polar) live around that area...and that isn't good news! These viruses were from a completely different timeline in Earth's history, and if released, we could all potentially die from an immediate pandemic disease or virus. However, what is debatable is if humans will survive the incoming (and slow, gradual, current) environmental collapse. Sadly, I don't have high hopes for us surviving the next 100 years nor will many other animals, but life will find a way.

IT's rather difficult to determine fact from fiction on this topic which became political well over a decade ago.

We'll one thing is for sure, we have Al Gore for bringing much of this to the forefront. My own unscientific opinion is this, the Earth goes thru periods of cooling and warming and has for millions of years.

Fact is that humans have been the leading cause of climate change for at least 250 years since the advance of the industrial revolution. The video you linked was to an "alternative media" link which is just as bad as mainstream media, take it straight from peer-approved scientists and their data. Don't make it political, the environment doesn't care about politics.

Some say global warming continues on.... Others say global warming was a short-lived event....

Im not too well educated on climate change but is there perhaps any way that we could save the polar bear and prevent ice caps from shrinking? It would be just sad to lose this bear.

I believe man just need to learn to look after the environment better. This is what all of us here wishes. At this point, it will take a miracle.
