Well the 20 minute battle might have started as an ambush, but the ambush obviously failed and it turned out to be a 20 minute fight. I dont think the bear was very much hurt because or the initial attack. So we have to consider this one of the very few face to face fights that a tiger killed a bear on record. At least i consider it a face to face fight. But yeah, what you proposed here is alot different, 300 lb tigress vs 400 lb female brown bear. Your intake is 8/10, which is pretty good if i think about it. But i would be more willing to have it at 6 or maybe 7 out of 10. Very close.
Yes, I understand completely. Not my first go discussing this . When a fight starts out as an ambush, I will refer to it as an ambush. But yes, the bear managed to dislodge herself from the tiger's grasp and they fought. Something that would not have happened had they started off face-to-face. To start with, we really have no idea how much damage the bear received in the initial attack. Maybe minor or possibly serious. But, even had this been a face-to-face encounter ( say over a carcass ) between a prime male tiger and a grizzly she-bear at weight-parity, I would wager on the tiger. Male tiger vs male grizzly at weight-parity, I would give them a 50-50. But, a grizzly she-bear vs tigress and the bear has a weight advantage of 100 pounds and strength advantage, I will give the bear an 8 out of 10 easily.

Well lets just leave the face-offs to the other threads. This thread looks much better just to post pics and videos of mamma bear.

Grizzlies are not tree climbers by nature. But their babies are. Babies of every species retain the instincts of their ancestors, much of which is lost/forgotten as they grow older.

I think baby polar bears are capable climbers too except there are no trees in the artic circle.

Perhaps I should have posted this in "Bear Morphology". This picture is a close-up of Mama Bear's heart.

Bears moms are probably the best moms in the animals kingdom. Can't say the same for father bear though.

I THOUGHT THIS PAGE WAS PERFECT FOR THIS THREAD. I HAD NEVER SEEN A MALE GRIZZLY SUCCEED IN KILLING A YOUNG BEAR, ALTHOUGH I HAVE SEEN A HALF-DOZEN SEEMINGLY SERIOUS ATTEMPS DURING WHICH THE SOW FOUGHT OFF THE BOAR.

PHOTOS: Polar bear cubs frolic with mom Two un-bear-ably cute polar bear cubs have been frolicking in the snow with their proud mom. These adorable snaps show the cubs exploring the brand-new world as they venture outdoors for the first time since their birth. They're pictured rolling around on the ground and falling into snow dens. Aleksey Rodak, 43, captured the shots in March at Novosibirsk Zoo in Russia. Rodak, an amateur photographer and engineering builder, said: "It was the first time the mother bear, known as Gerda, showed her cubs to the visitors outside of the enclosure. They were born at the end of 2018 and are not the first cubs Gerda has given birth to." (Caters News) news.yahoo.com/amphtml/photos-polar-bear-cubs-frolic-150150884.html
