I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about this Mama Bear tells me, "don't mess with the kid."

Quintuplets - we don't see this often. Did you know that a Mama Bear will adopt orphan cubs?

A comparison of the Amur tigress and the Amur ( black grizzly ) she-bear - Average Sized Animals: Tiger: head and body length - 172 cm ( 5 feet 8 inches ) - Grizzly: head and body length - 160 cm ( 5 feet 3 inches ). Tiger: shoulder height - 78 cm ( 2 feet 8 inches ) - Grizzly: shoulder height - 96 cm ( 3 feet 2 inches ). Tiger: weight - 137.5 kg ( 303 pounds ) - Grizzly: weight - 189 kg ( 417 pounds ). *Question: There are no wrong answers. 300 pound tigress face-to-face with a 400 pound grizzly she-bear ... What happens?

What happens? In a face to face battle, the she-bear wins 6/10 times. Weight advantage, probably strength advantage also, more stamina.

My money would be on the she bear but Im not 100% sure who would win. I lean more towards the bear.

My money would be on the she bear but Im not 100% sure who would win. I lean more towards the bear. They are very near to size-parity. The tigress has an advantage of about half-a-foot ( 13 cm ) while the grizzly she-bear has a weight advantage of about 100 pounds ( 45 kg ). If they fight, I would wager on the she bear. My chances of winning that bet probably about 8 out of 10 easily. *Note: More likely scenario: the tigress retreats and there is no physical contact.

You are very confident on the she-bear. I have this at 6/10 for the she-bear.

Wow you have this 8/10? You are very confident on the she-bear. I have this at 6/10 for the she-bear. In known ambush events, such as with Dale, the prime male tiger had a long-lasting ( 20 minute ) struggle with the bear before finally killing her. Those two were at weigh-parity. The first adult she-bear killed by Dale ( its my understanding ) worked out about the same way - a difficult struggle. But here, we have a tigress rather than a muscular male tiger and a she-bear with a weight advantage of 100 pounds. No longer a weight-parity face-off.

Well the 20 minute battle might have started as an ambush, but the ambush obviously failed and it turned out to be a 20 minute fight. I dont think the bear was very much hurt because or the initial attack. So we have to consider this one of the very few face to face fights that a tiger killed a bear on record. At least i consider it a face to face fight. But yeah, what you proposed here is alot different, 300 lb tigress vs 400 lb female brown bear. Your intake is 8/10, which is pretty good if i think about it. But i would be more willing to have it at 6 or maybe 7 out of 10. Very close.
