Here is a comparison using more "realistic models" of the two animals if you will; those were created by a "DeviantArt" user called "serchio25", he did a great job imo! Arctodus Simus - Ursus Spelaeus (largest possible sizes)
The cave bear was huge, but the short-faced bear was a monster.

Kodiak Bear - Ursus Spelaeus (model by "Prehistoric Fauna")
This would probably represent two average specimens; I've taken a closer look at Christiansen and Harris' work and the average weight for male cave bears is ~525kg based on 6 equations conducted by them (I excluded equations based on canids/felids/hyaenids and solely focused on equations based on ursids due to obvious reasons; those animal groups are only very distantly related to ursids). The Kodiak and his first cousin, the cave bear.

The Florida short-faced bear: 331 pounds to 661 pounds. Tremarctos floridanus - the Florida short-faced bear - the forgotten big bear. The Andean bear's big brother.

Revised version in better quality
For the tiger to go head-to-head against this bear is suicide.

One of the classics; now in full frontal view! Siberian Tiger - Ussuri Brown Bear (max. shoulder heights; the difference is roughly the same as at average heights)
The rarely seen frontal comparison. I love it.

Nocapakabritishl posted this on Carnivora. It is the size comparison between a max size polar bear and an average hippo. Polar bear meets the king of the river.

Reply 129. King of the river will win but if it is away from water for too long, the polar bear could take advantage of that situation and inflict wounds on the hippo.

The model for the Ursus Ingressus specimen is provided by "Prehistoric Fauna".
Arguably the biggest bovine vs the biggest cave bear.

Both models provided by "Prehistoric Fauna". The two biggest bears that have ever lived right next to each other; on your right we have the giant Arctotherium specimen (based on a 620mm humerus) and on your left we have the "Behemoth of Kansas River" (based on a 646mm humerus). They are looking down at your average Joe... On all fours...
Giant vs Giant.
