The inland grizzly is big enough to kill any living big cat in a face-off even though he is among the smaller brown bear subspecies.

This is a sympatric comparison; a Plains bison taking on a Yellowstone grizzly bear.
Only an exceptional male grizzly is big enough to challenge a bull bison.

Here is a coastal brown bear taking on a Yellowstone grizzly; the size difference between the two is enormous, these coastal brown bears are real life giants!
Wow! What a huge difference those salmon make.

Two of the most popular carnivores going at it: A Kruger lion taking on a Yellowstone grizzly.
Even though when seen "broadside" the lion appears larger, the grizzly is heavier.

An Asiatic lion taking on a sloth bear.
Although sloth bears are comparatively common in India, in the Gir National Park where the lions live, there are neither bears nor tigers.

Comparison between Elvis Presley, the largest gorilla on record, Robert Wadlow, Bart the Bear and the largest polar bear on record. Even though the polar bear is the most massive of living bears, I would still wager on a max-sized Kodiak in a face-off. But the outcome of such a fight is highly debatable.

Revised comparison between a Siberian tiger and an Ussuri brown bear; this should be the most accurate one so far.
There is only one place on earth today where brown bears share their domain with tigers; the R.F.E.

I remember this being a very popular matchup on many forums; a Eurasian brown bear taking on a Siberian tiger. Over the years, my favorite brown bear has changed from time to time as I learned more about them. I now consider the Eurasian brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos) to be the perfect example of the brown bear as a species.

Comparison between a North American cougar and a spectacled bear.
In South America, there is no evidence that either the puma nor the jaguar ever hunt and kill adult Andean bears.

Last comparison for today and this is the big one everyone has been waiting for I guess; the revised and probably my most accurate version of an adult male Kodiak bear taking on an adult male polar bear.
'The Great Fight'... I would wager on the Kodiak, but then again, we can't be sure.

brobear King Kodiak Here it is: a max. sized Ussuri wild boar (125cm at the shoulders) taking on the average Ussuri brown bear (115cm at the shoulders).
More adult male wild boars are killed by Ussuri brown bears than by Amur tigers. But, there are factors to consider. (1) Tigers hunt full-time while brown bears only for a small portion of their diet. (2) There are more bears than there are tigers.

Two East African Lions vs Polar Bear
Two lions vs polar bear. I would give the lions a 50% chance of killing the bear. Most likely outcome (IMO) one lion would live to enjoy the feast.
