Let me guess.... that is Lynn Rogers. It maybe just the picture but that looks to be a rather large Black Bear. I consider the American black bear to be highly underestimated even here at the Domain. This because he is overshadowed by the grizzly. Just compare his neck with that of Mr. Lynn Rogers. Yep. that could easily be a 450+ pound Bear.

I admit it, i am guilty of this. But this is because i compare it with all the other species of bear.

There's a saying that goes like this.... If your attacked by a Grizzly play dead... if you're attacked by a Black Bear, kick, punch, bite whatever you have to do to fight for your life. Predatory attacks by black bears (usually males) attack because they think of you as prey.
Now I should clarify the Grizzly attack. If a Grizzly attacks and you play dead but it turns predatory instead of defensive and the Bear decides he's going to try and eat you anyway, then fight back with all you got or you're just making yourself an easy meal.

There are more man eaters among American black bears compared to the stronger and more aggressive grizzly surprisingly.

I admit it, i am guilty of this. But this is because i compare it with all the other species of bear. Same here. An American black bear is underestimated because of its relatively timid personality compared to brown bears, polar bears, sloth bears, and even Asiatic black bears yet they still have strong upper body strength that exceeds most animals at weight parity.

I think both the kemorde bears and glacier bears are the most beautiful of their American subspecies. It’s probably their rarity that makes them appealing.
