The Ussuri brown bear is a good match for smilodon populator, American lion, and other extinct big cats of similar weight.

/\ Again another great story. I believe the tiger would have won in a fight to death due to being heavier on average. How heavy are both animals in your story? Excluding skermish fights, I believe only the male brown bear and polar bear will defeat tigers and lions in fights to death. I also believe that in fight to death the tiger wouuld win with no doubts. In not fight to death, it was fight fir food. The tiger retreated and the bear only wanted to make the tiger flee. Yes, i think all species of brown bear and polar bear can beat any tiger or lion face-to-face, thats why these two bears are the current kings in planet earth. The himalayan black bear was agrresive due to hunger and its nature and weighed 180 kg while the tiger was 210 kg. The two animals in your story do not have much weight difference. Therefore, the Himalayan black bear is quite capable of wounding the tiger at least.

Male polar bear vs Lions and tigers.
A circus once again came to the Churchill. There were four seperate cages. The biggest one has three African lion brothers weighing between 500 to 600 pounds each. The smaller three cages have a two Bengal tigers and one Siberian tiger each weighing 660 pounds, 500 pounds, and 600 pounds respectively.
The people of Churchill attended the circus to watch the tigers and lions act. Everybody cheered as the big cats did well. However, the ring master careless forgot to lock the gates. Late in the night after everyone left, the tigers and lions came out of the cage. A hostile reaction started, the 500 pound African lion attacked the 500 pound Bengal tiger. The tiger stood up on his two hind legs and swatted the lion in the head knocking it down. The lion got up charged the tiger knocking it down. The tiger grab the lion but only bit the mane. This open an opportunity for the other two lions to help their brother maul the 500 pound tiger.
The 600 pound Siberian tiger knowing he was outmatches by three lions fled but not before swiping the biggest lion with his paws. The largest 660 Bengal tiger, however, stood his ground and was surrounded by the three lions.
Meanwhile, a the 600 pound Siberian tiger was raiding some of the meat left near the circus entrance. A large 1540 pound male polar bear sniffed the scent of meat. He had just finished mating with a female bear a while ago after fighting off other bears and is now hungry.
The 1540 pound male polar bear chased off the male Siberian tiger from his food and began to eat the meat. The Siberian tiger knock down one of the lions opening an opportunity for the 660 pound Bengal tiger to grab one of the lions by the mane.
The other two lions got ready to help their brother, however, the 1540 pound male polar bear displaced 660 pound Bengal tiger (which released the lion he was biting) and the three lion brothers.
The 1540 pound male polar bear caught the 660 pound male Bengal tiger and mauled him to death. The male polar bear proceeded to kill the wounded 500 pound Bengal tiger.
The three lion brothers in the meantime surrounded the 600 pound male Siberian tiger which lay on his back with all four set of claws presented at the three brothers.
Although generally more aggressive, the lions were a little hesitant to approach the tiger at first. Eventually, the biggest lion went forward and brawled with the Siberian tiger.
The 1540 pound male polar bear rushed in and chased off the other two male lions. The same male polar bear attacked both the biggest African lion and the Siberian tiger (both cats were locked together in battle) killing them.
The last two male lions ran out in the cold. Two hungry 1320 pound male polar bears killed the two African lions and feasted while the 1540 pound male polar bear which killed a 660 pound Bengal tiger, 600 pound Siberian tiger, 600 pound African lion, and 500 pound Bengal tiger, broke out of the tent and disappeared into the night.
The next day, the ring master arrived and knew that male polar bears have killed his tigers and lions. He basically lost his source of income that day.

Glacier bear vs Bengal tiger.
With the help of the locals in Churchill, the ring master’s tent was repaired. He was still sad that male polar bears have killed his tigers and lions but he had to move on. He knew that these male polar bears would easily kill even extinct big cats like the smilodon populators and American lions.
Deciding to run his circus in Glacier National Park where many park their caravans there, he made his trip there. Buying a few tigers and lions recently brought from the wild in a local zoo in Toronto, he headed to his destination.
This time, he was more careful to leave his doors of the cages locked. However, one was left open and one of the Bengal tigers escaped. Feeling hungry, he killed a moose. The tiger fed on as much as he could before the arrival of a Peninsula Alaskan brown bear. The huge male brown bear at 1000 pounds easily chased off the tiger from his kill.
The tiger fled to the mountains and encountered a huge animal with bluish grey fur. While not as big as the brown bear which chased off the tiger, this bluish grey animal known as the glacier bear weighs 500 pounds making him just as heavy as the tiger.
The tiger feeling hungry attempted to prey on the glacier bear. His intended victim spotted him on time and fled. The tiger being faster was gaining on him, however, the tiger made a mistake of trapping him near a cave. With nowhere to run, the glacier bear turned around to fight for his life.
Both the glacier bear and the Bengal tiger got into a fierce fight and brawl before breaking apart. The tiger turned tail and left with his tail broken in half and the skin of his flank torn off. The male glacier bear emerged from the cave with a torn nose, and being severely lacerated on his snout and body fell down on the ground near a berry bush taking a rest. Nevertheless the glacier bear managed to chase off the tiger and live a day longer.
Weeks later, the glacier bear discovered the same tiger on a moose carcass on the foot of the mountain. The glacier bear briefly chased off the tiger knocking the striped cat away with a charge. The tiger returned and feasted on the other end of the moose carcass. Both animals gulping down as much food as they can before a huge male brown bear arrived and drove them off. The glacier bear fled to the mountains and the Bengal tiger back to the circus where he recaptured by the ring master by the help of Park Rangers.

Sloth bear vs leopard.
A huge male leopard killed a sambar deer. Unfortunately the deer was too heavy to be lifted in the closest tree. It is a race against time and it is only a matter of time before other predators discover the leopard and its kill. Attempting to lighten the load of the carcass, the leopard began feasting as much as he could. Ten minutes later, a 350 pound male sloth bear arrived and chased off the leopard. The leopard returned three times to confront the sloth bear but each time the much larger bear won the face off.
The sloth bear ate as much as it could before finally leaving the rest of the carcass for the leopard. The leopard pulled up the carcass into the tree way before a pack of hungry dholes could reach it.

Polar Bear vs. Siberian Tiger.A Siberian tiger is feasting on its kill, and a Polar bear is roaming around, looking for food. The tiger then suddenly spots the bear. Not in the mood to share, the tiger roars at the Polar bear to back off, but the bear ignores the warning and continues to advance. The tiger tries a body blow, but the Polar bear absorbs the impact without losing balance. The tiger then tries to land a killing blow on the Polar bear's neck, but the bear pushes it down. The Polar bear then approaches the kill, but the tiger recovers and pounces on the bear from behind, cutting him with its claws, but fails to disable him. The much stronger bear turns around and using his superior strength against the tiger's speed and agility, overpowers the tiger by pawing its face. The Polar bear then breaks the tiger's spine and finishes its off with a neck bite, killing it immediately . deadliestbeasts.fandom.com/wiki/Polar_Bear_vs._Siberian_Tiger
