The planet Darwin was populated by the mysterious gray aliens which are the oldest mortals of the multiverse. By having control of space and time, they accomplished their mission of a wildlife sanctuary for all Earth creatures ( excluding only specific micro-organisms and Homo sapiens ). The planet is completely wild, containing no artificial structures of any kind. A population of the gray folk live on the moon, Aesop, where they act as the guardians of Darwin.

Gremlin - All Creodonts of the family Oxyaenidae. Goblin - All Creodonts of the family Hyaenodontidae. Beowulf - All Hemicyonidae. ( the dog bear ). Berserker - All Amphicyonidae. ( the bear dog ). Wolf - Bred from all Canidae separated from those bred into multiple fox hybrid species. Hyena - Bred from all hyenas and close relatives from the little insect-eaters and speedy runners to the giant Pachycrocuta. Each species enters Mammothia beginning with the smallest members and each century a larger member is added until after many centuries the last and biggest member arrives. Some begin on the West coast and others on the East coast. The final result of each hybrid animal is of moderate size, being much larger than its smallest members who were first to arrive, but much smaller than those last to arrive. Both the wolf and the hyena have their beginnings on the West coast, because West Mammothia is mostly open country similar to the African veldt, American prairie, or South America's pampas. But there are forested locations. Near the Great River is the land of tall grass and bamboo. The end result of the wolf is little different from today's grey wolf and the hybrid hyena little different from Africa's spotted hyena. The lion, the Shogun, and the Samurai live in West Mammothia while the tiger, the Ninja, and Dinofelis live in East Mammothia. Of all of these biggest of the cats, they each average somewhere between 400 and 500 pounds. The hybrid Creodont, the Goblin, lives in West Mammothia and the hybrid Creodont, the Gremlin, lives in East Mammothia. Each began with fox-sized relatives and ended with real giants. The end result of each is a "lone-wolf" predator weighing on average roughly 600 pounds. The only real challenger on a one-on-one basis to a bear is the Ogre. Living in West Mammothia, this hybrid monster most closely resembles Daenodon and has a weight range from 800 to 1200 pounds. He is an omnivore, scavenger, and a kleptoparasite.

Lion - full-time predator - West Mammothia. They rarely prey on bears as even a she-bear normally outweighs a prime male lion. A pride of lions consists of one or two males with from 5 to 10 females. Lions are the only social cats of Mammothia. Even two male lions might lose to a full-grown male Bruin. In a fight, for at least one lion to be killed is almost a certainty. For this reason, lions rarely attack a full-grown Bruin ( male or female ).

In upper northern reaches of 'The Great River' which separates East Mammothia from West Mammothia and in the lower southern reaches, Bruins are able to cross over from East to West Mammothia. Bruins and Titans do not interbreed and they do not coexist on friendly terms. But while the Titans, being less aquatic, remain solely in West Mammothia, the Bruins live from the east coast to the west coast.

In East Mammothia, there are some great predators which include the 400-pound Beowulf, the 400-pound Tiger, the 500-pound Ninja, and the 600-pound Gremlin. But there are no predators that will dare to challenge the 800-pound Bruin. Here, he is the Monarch - the Boss of the Woods. Only in West Mommothia is he rivaled. The Titan, being less aquatic, remains in West Mammothia while there are Bruins living there from the east coast to the west coast. There are only three locations where the Bruin is absent in Mammothia; ( 1 ) the high arctic - domain of the Jotunn -, ( 2 ) the tropical jungle - domain of the Kong - ( Gigantopithecus ), and ( 3 ) the central area of The Great Desert in West Mammothia.

I believe that prides of Lions would view the Ogres as prey, killing them from ambush. Also, I believe that Ogres would be killed by Samurai from ambush. I am uncertain whether or not these big cats would ambush a big boar Ogre, but the smaller sows and juveniles would certainly be prey to the big cats. This might also hold true for the Bruins.

The Planet Darwin has been populated with every lifeform ever to have existed on Earth with the exception of Homo sapiens. They began with the most primitive Australopiticus ; from there into Paranthropus boisei, and upwards to the various Homo species and then coming back ( down-breeding ) to more primitive forms. The final result ( as planned by the grays ) most closely resembles Homo erectus although these "forest people" do not practice the usage of fire. They live only within the vast tropical jungles of East Mammothia. Average male - 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds / Average female 5 feet tall, 90 pounds. Omnivore.
