Ever now and then there is an exception to the rule. Each animal species is governed by that particular animal's basic behavior and abilities. But ever so often one individual will stand out in the crowd. Example: Dale, "the bear killer" also called... Misha, or Amur tiger m20.
Dale had acquired a taste for bear flesh. He was a big male tiger ( 445 pounds ) who purposely hunted bears. His prey choice were juvenile bears at least 100 pounds less in weight than himself. His diet was well documented as he was a radio-collared tiger. Of all the many bears Dale killed, only two were adult and those two were both she-bears, each weighing less than himself.
However, each of those two adult she-bears ambushed by Dale gave the big male tiger a terrific struggle lasting up to 20 minutes.

From Warsaw: Once again "gender and age of the killed bear in 1951 is unknown"
From chapter 19 summary "..Only adult male tigers may afford eating bears more or like regularly. There are only two known cases in history when bears were killed by tigresses: 80-100 kg female bear in a den; 170 kg young bear mauled by a big tigress (note: the bear was much shorter than the tigress and, probably, was just very fat)..." Thats all.
*Note: Warsaw is among those elite posters whose words I feel I can bank on as being accurate. *From topic: "Tiger vs Brown Bear in the Wild" page #1, reply #15: a 140 kg ( 310 pounds ) tigress kills a 170 kg ( 375 pounds ) grizzly in an ambush attack. According to the normal habits of the tigress, the bear was most likely a fat juvenile grizzly - male or female. However, there is also the possibility that the bear was a mature female grizzly. If so, the tigress was larger than average while the she-bear was smaller than average. The tigress would have had at least a foot ( 31 cm ) over the bear in head and body length. Sometimes an adult she-bear is ambushed and killed by a tiger.

( 1 ) As a basic rule; every bear killed by a tiger is killed by ambush. ( 2 ) As a basic rule, only a male tiger will ambush a bear. ( 3 ) As a basic rule, tigers do not hunt bears but might choose to ambush a bear found by chance. ( 4 ) There are no confirmed reports of a tiger ever killing a full-grown male brown bear. ( 5 ) There are no confirmed reports of a tiger ever killing a bear of any species bigger than himself. ( 6 ) Every satellite bear is a full-grown male Brown bear. He will follow the same tigress, usually one with cubs, for a week, a month, or even longer, usurping her kills thus making her very survival difficult.
