Will a father bear eats his own cub in severe hunger? Can females do this to their own cubs?

Will a father bear eats his own cub in severe hunger? Can females do this to their own cubs? Will a father bear eats his own cub in severe hunger? - I have read that a grizzly will not kill his own offspring. I'm really unsure if this is a proven fact. I believe it was Doug Peacock who stated that brown bears do not kill cubs as commonly as once thought. Can females do this to their own cubs? - Can they? Yes, but I've never heard of such a thing happening. A she-bear is a dedicated mother.

I believe that a bear dad will not kill his cub and a mother mother would not kill her cub either-except a starving female polar bear with no other choice.

Starving female polar bears have eaten their cubs. Because male polar bears are not territorial and wander long distances everyday (up to 40km a day), they might not recognise their own cubs.
Big cats being territorial recognise their females and cubs.

Big cats being territorial recognise their females and cubs. There is a strongly held theory on this. Few ( if any ) animals have a keener nose than a bear. The polar bear also has the advantage, over other bears, that on the North Polar region, there is very little outside scents to interfere. It is commonly believed, by the experts, that a male bear can instantly recognize his own cubs by their scent. I would, myself, like to believe that this is true.
