Credits to Warsaw: M.Krechmar As mentioned earlier, the search for the largest bear - as a trophy, and in general, the animal with the greatest physical values, has fascinated and continues to fascinate all hunters of the world. On the way to the real estimation of the size of these animals there is one significant problem - to measure the mass of the animal in the field conditions is practically impossible, and the size of the skull, which is considered the main trophy all over the world, is not always the same as the physical size of the animal.
What is considered to be a really big brown bear, from the point of view of experts?
In the Russian Federation, it is customary to consider such animals whose weight exceeds half a ton. The greatest amount of information about such animals came to us from the era of "developed socialism", when the meat of these animals was sold to the state. On Kamchatka some animals with the weight exceeding 600 kg. were registered, two such monsters were registered in the Magadan region and Primorye.
But here we again encounter with the deception of hunters and game managers, who were interested in exaggerating the weight of their prey and gave up for meat two or three small bears instead of one very large one. At least, on this I am ready to vouch for "Magadan" giants, and my colleague V.V.Aramilev - for a seaside one. Slaughter (!), i.e. making 65 % of live weight of the Ussuri monster which was allegedly extracted in the Olginsky area was 600 kg (in reality such animal would weigh a ton), however, V. Aramilev by means of unobtrusive questions determined that instead of one "super bear" for meat was given whether four, or six small bears.
I did not manage to weigh the largest bear, which was caught in front of my eyes. This animal was shot in the upper reaches of the Anadyr river, and had a total length from tip of nose to tail of 285 cm, but its hide with head and paws, weighed in the presence of several witnesses on a heavy-duty dynamometer, weighed more than a hundred and twenty-five kilos. This gives us the body mass of this beast of more than six hundred kilograms when the coefficients are applied. However, the largest bears were killed (and sometimes weighed in front of witnesses) on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. Reliable information about Kamchatka&Ussuri brown bears is scarce because l
This is mainly because a lot of researchers copy and paste information from hunter reports and stories .
Seryodkin data is a sole(and reliable) source of information published in the past 30 years about the morphometry of Kamchatka&Ussuri brown bears.

Seryodkin; Dietary intake of brown bears in the Sikhote-Alin Phytogenous forage prevails in the dietary intake of brown bears in the Sikhote-Alin (89,7 % of annual intake). Herbs, korean pine nuts, mongolian oak acorns, and cowberry are the most significant sources of brown bear forage in this region. Animal prey plays an important role in bear’s nourishment in spring, comprising up to 45,5 % of intake in April. Of animal prey, mammals are the most significant component of brown bear nourishment. Their large physical size is a result of their access to rich food sources like salmon, pine nuts and berries. Maintaining body weight is crucial to survive the long period that bears spend sleeping in their winter dens (up to 6 months on Kamchatka). Salmon including: Pink, Sockeye, Coho, Chum, King, Cherry as well as char. Dwarf Siberian pine nuts, blue berries, crow berries, cranberries, mountain ash berries and others. Bears also feed on a wide variety of vegetation usually in the early summer.

This bear has some potential to grow huge. The heaviest wild brown bear actually weighed proved to be under 1,700 pounds. That was a huge Kodiak bear. Not even the biggest polar bear comes close to 2,490 pounds. These weights posted here are extreme over-estimations. I doubt that there can be a Kamchatka bear found weighing above 1,400 pounds. But, that is not a little bear.

/\ Trophy hunters exggegerate the weights of the animals they shoot. One more thing, STP said that largest Kamkatcha brown bear has an 18.5 cm paw width and is 410kg. That is slightly higher wider than a male East Siberian brown bear at 600 kg with an 18cm paw width. It seems the Kamkatcha has wider paws proportionately: beargorillarealm.proboards.com/post/7576/
